Praxis has discovered the evil of spyware (was: EEAAARRRGH!)

Post by Praxis »

I figured I'd try HijackThis! , though I didn't expect much since I used FireFox. Thing is, I used IE for a few months before I switched to FireFox on this PC.

And I've let relatives (parents, siblings) and friends use this computer.

So I have one question:
WHICH ONE OF YOU IMBECILES INSTALLED BONZI BUDDY???

*gasp*...well, I don't see the evil monkey but there is the registry key.

44 *gasp* infected files...*gasp*...
Even Gator...who...did...this...to...me...???!!!

Anyway, I googled Hijack This and found Hijack-this.net, with a program called NoAdware. It found 44 adware but refuses to kill it unless I pay $30. Curse you!

Use Ad-aware and Spybot, both can take down Bonzi.

That sounds bad. How bad did it screw up your computer's performance?

Thing is, using FF is fine and good, but it won't protect you from spyware if you start downloading shareware programs left and right. They tend to stick things on your machine without your knowlege or permission.
