Q's powers.. overrated?
I have after much thought come to a startling conclusion... Q's powers are somewhat over rated. Seriously I don't think we ever see any conclusive proof that his powers are as great as he implies they are. this isn't to say Q ain't powerful (at the very LEAST he's more powerful then any Jedi that every existed) but I do think a lot of folks attribute "brute force" to his powers over subalty. I mean, have we ever seen ANY proof that the Q are outside the control of time? I don't think so. the only time I seem to remember seeing genuine time travel on the part of Q could easily be chalked up to a mental illusion played on Picard in "All Good Things"
No matter what I say your mind is already made up and I can't change that
Not that I don't agree with you per say its just people don't like posts that beg ME TO
As for the Super Powered Q thing, To do what Q has done you need
Advanced Teleportation/Transporation Techknowlegde
Replicator/Exchange tech also Advanced(Heck could be all smoke a mirrors, He teleports whatever he poofs and replicatis whatever he needs for his next illusion)

Said to be omnipotent yet obviously aren't from onscreen evidence.
It is very easy to pull the stunts he does using nothing more than mind altering devices or virtual reality techniques. Other stuff is cheap magic but I think the V'ger ep. "The Q and the Grey" sums up how weird the Q continuum is without mentioning Quinn's loss of powers and imprisoning in a comet.

Could it be possible that Q is just a human with some really nifty toys, then? As Mr. Bean pointed out, he hasn't done anything that can't be explained by the use of REALLY fast and REALLY long-ranged transporters, holograms, and force field manipulation, all with a control mechanism tied directly to Q's brain. Hell, all the other Q that we've seen over the years could simply be holograms.
The only REALLY impressive thing I've seen from the Q has been the wanton destruction of stars.

The Great and Malignant
Well in Voyager Quinn did hide Voyager at the beginning of time which is pretty powerful. And there was also the Q Civil War where Q commented "If those guns can hurt me, think about what they would do to you" and how stars (or whatever) were going nova due to the war.
Quinn wanted to kill himself becuase he was bored, he'd done basically everything that he could do. He was so bored remember he was a scare crow for something of around a million years. And when we actually saw the Q Continuum no one was talking, which Quinn said was becuase "everything has been said".
That's pretty damn near omnipotent if not omnipotent.

I remeber an episode where Q was playing hida and seek with a female Q Amanda I think it was a Next Generation Episode well anyway he was hiding in the WARP core and didnt show himself till he phased through it then when she finnaly found him he was on the surface of the Enterprise D and the ship was at warp I think.

Is Q omnipotent? As his powers relate to the "Star Trek vs. Star Wars" debate, that's really rather inconsequential, don't you think?
If you ignore Q and his explicitly stated desire (implicitly the desire of the entire Q Continuum) to see humans grow and evolve, then his power or lack thereof is entirely irrelevant.
If, on the other hand, you include Q as a factor in the conflict, then the question is somewhat more interesting, yet still of little consequence. Whether you believe he is possessed of absolute omnipotence or not makes no difference. Q has demonstrated the ability to alter time, space, matter and energy at a whim on numerous occasions. For Q, travelling back in time to Coruscant's formative times and obliterating all life on that planet is child's play. For that matter, if Q can accomplish that, why not engage a bit more imagination and suppose that the Star Wars galaxy is simply refused the opportunity to form?
But regarding the theory popular among some vs. Fanfic authors that Q's powers are derivative of the Force, and that an Ysalimiri can neutralize or kill him... suupose it were true. Would a being so replete with Force ability and in such exquisite control over same suffer such a creature to live? Even to exist, to begin with?

No specific example to which these technologies can be applied was given. Causing someone to experience time travel is not possible with transporters or holograms. Recreations of the past, possibly, but in previous examples, the "time traveller" was unaffected. In "All Good Things" Picard was affected by travel to a future not only physically but mentally as well. There effects are not possible with any known technology.

29th Century Feds used transporters to send 7 of 9 make in time "VOY: Reletivity"
