Bitching and politics.

Post by Ubiquitous »

Why is politics so full of bitching? Every four years or so the entire world is exposed to the pathetic bitch-fest that is the U.S. Presidential election. Has politics always been this bad? I mean, the attacks that each side use to discredit each other are worse than those I used to hear in school!

When did this culture of ... dishonour creep into our representitives? Is it a product of Democracy [having to lower the argument to the level of the most dumb voter] or has it been around for ever? Most importantly, can we ever get rid of it?

I certainly hope so. The TV and Internet are simply not fun for the months running up to an election. Let's just hope we don't have a repeat of the vote controversy of the last election so that this bitch-fest can die down for a few more years!

This is only my second vote, and I really didnt pay much attention during the first one...I was too busy going crazy about college and all that stuff that seemed so important during the last yr of high school. But now I pay a lot more attention and have started talking on boards like this one. I noticed the increase in anger and resentment and hating...but, at first, I just figured that it was always that way and I had not paid much attention to it before. But maybe this election is different in that the candidates really are DIFFERENT. They polarize the two sides (and yes, having only two sides really does add to feul to the fire) deep into their corners. When both candidates hover around the middle, what is there to scream and shout about? I just read over the thread about republicans in which things got extremely heated. But thats the debate right now. Republicans are traditional republicans in this election and the same goes for the democrats. Its raising taxes verses lowering them, choice verses life, government run health care verses private...pit an extreme conservative verses an extreme liberal and maybe this is the result we can expect from now on

but, then again, like I said, this is only my second election and first one really following the race closely.
