It's actually qute simple.

It's just math that leaves you with 9 possible results. 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 73, and 81. It just swaps the symbols around.

Yup. Nice trick though. I tried it a few times till I spotted that certain numbers were always correct and had a different symbol each time. Concentrate on 45, for example.

Yeah, I just fucked it and picked a random number and checked that. Didn't work then.
