Not even Hitler attacked Sweden, when was the last time we offended anyone?
Read up a little on these guys ideology and you’ll understand why even the Swedes upset them, in their world the fact that you don’t hold the exact same kind of fundamentalist Islamic views as they do qualifies you for death.

You don’t have to actively offend them, passive failure to become a jihadi nutter as far as they are concerned is effectively the same as working for the US army. Being an American, British or whatever will put them further up their list but ultimately not being the same as them is all the excuse they need.

Well since he has Diabetes, and kidney problems, he's probably been safe, in some semi-western country while we have been fecking around, if he's still alive...

most likely: Saudi Arabia (family, friends, support, homes, etc.)

Either that, or he's been in a nice, clean CIA run hospital, since his capture, and only been let out, to make threats, rattle sabers, etc. As a purely machevellian machination.

I've heard that his health problems may, in fact, be nothing but rumors. Even if he is having kidney problems, the equipment to take care of him isn't exactly difficult to transport (think a single truck).

Psychotic mass murderer as he is, his statement was fairly accurate. Better than any speech of Bush's, definitely. I especially liked this quote:

“I never thought that the supreme leader would leave 50,000 of his people in the two towers to face the terrifying events alone at the time they were in need for him.”

Yeah! With Bush's Presidential superpowers, he could have zipped up to New York at lightspeed and saved everyone in the World Trade Center! Oh wait...

The most surprising thing about all this to me is that so many of you sound taken aback by this news.

I'm not surprised at all. I'm not going to believe he's dead until I see reports of him actually seen dead or better yet, killed in action so he is seen to die. Just saying "Oh, he was probably caught up in some cave when we were bombing the mountains in Afghanistan" doesn't cut it.

The Bush White House and its flacks have been invoking the Osama boogeyman for two years straight and we're already on our fifth or sixth Orange Alert. What's one more tape of Osama coming out to say "boo" to America really going to accomplish at this point?

Are you saying that to indicate this may be a double? Because that's something I've been pondering since the news came out, what with the big operation that took down the Al-Zawahiri double a while back in Pakistan.

It wouldn't be that hard to pull off, and it would explain the long period of silence we got, while they found their boy and put the surgeons to work.

I may well end up eating crow over my assumption that he was likely dead, but there are other possibilities in this business.

What I found interesting was the shift in tone from 'The Global Jihad is gonna get ya!' to 'If you leave us alone, we'll leave you alone.'

Interesting way to look at our nation's most (apparently) vital criminal:

Our nation's first Super Villian. Who else would go to these lengths just to make sure everyone knew he existed?

He's been treated by western doctors, IIRC.
