Election Pool --place your bets!

Post by dr. what »

Not sure if this is in N&P or OT--apologies in advance if in wrong forum--can a mod move this if this is the case?

OK--you may have noticed one or two threads lately on this little U.S. election thingie coming up--who's willing to make a prediction?

Here's four electoral vote predictors

http://www.electoral-vote.com/
http://electionprojection.com/elections2004.html
http://www.nytimes.com/packages/html/po ... E_GRAPHIC/

My prediction:

Kerry 271 Bush 267

Release the lawyers! :P

To be honest, I'm not sure if there's a reasonable combination of states that gives this number, but my guess is:

Bush 275 Kerry 263
Bush wins popular vote by less than one point.

The lawyers are already released, because Jeb Bush's idiotic plans didn't include Don't get your stupid ass caught on tape by the BBC. Again.

50,000. Oh, wait, you mean the vote totals, not the deaths during the impending lawsuits. In that case:

Electoral Vote: Kerry 272, Bush 266
Popular Vote: 48.5%-48.5%, difference of a few hundred thousand between winner and loser, headache ensues.

Bush 271 Kerry 269. Bush wins by a margin of 1 vote in each swing state. Lawsuits take the next 4 years to resolve.

£200 on Black.

That's my best bet for this election. Unfortunately this will come down to the averaging of human stupidity across a large sample...and then likely a lot of lawyers...

I don't honestly know. It could go either way. Though I've been following Slate's electoral coverage. It's been fluctuating between the two for the past month.

Bush takes it, barely. I wouldn't be suprised if Kerry gets the popular vote.

Why do you want that to happen?

Never mind, I read Rogue 9's post about what could happen if there's a tie.

Dude, there's 538 electoral votes, not 540. You can't get those results.

Me? After watching election coverage for a week and doing dozens upon dozens of tracking polls on swing states (or Battleground States, as we call 'em at MSNBC) and national results from Zogby, Reuters, CNN, Gallup, USA Today, the LA Times, ABC News and the Washington Post, I can say that I think it'll be a dead heat all the way to the end - pretty much agreeing with how Joe Scarborough called it.

I'm optimistic that Kerry can pull it off. Right now it's waaaay too close to call and it can easily swing in either direction, especially with the new Osama video, the al-Qaqqa weapons thing and the FBI probe into Halliburton's no-bid contract.

What a lovely week for piles of polls.

Work sucked today :(

Might as well explain this for those that don't get it. Our Resident Borg Fan-Whore has been role-playing Darth Vader in my Trek/Wars crossover story thread and has now sliced off my arm in an attempt to new chapters up and running. 8)

My original prediction stands -- Kerry takes this one, with the help of the 10,000 lawyers put in place by the Democrats. Don't think we'll know for certain (if ever) who won until well into December.
