The "Vote or Die" campaign

Post by Darth Wong »

As you may know, Puff Daddy (or P Diddy or Puck Diddly, or whatever the fuck he calls himself now) has been running a campaign called "Vote or Die" in which he urges young people to get out and vote.

Today on CNN I saw a Bush supporter (obviously assuming that the campaign tells you to vote for a particular person even though it doesn't) earnestly explaining that this campaign is a lie because you will not actually die. I just thought this was too funny not to share :lol:

:lol:

That may be the funniest thing in this whole election.

I'd like to see Puff thingy respond to this in some comical way.

Just for breathing in the air they wanna leave me in the chair
Electric shocking body rocking beat streeting me to death"

*Notes for upcoming article about Bush on website*

I know that this has been said before, but he just satirizes himself.

Actually, you know what this reminds me of? The time DarkStar thought he had made an amazing discovery about you and AdmiralKanos being one in the same. :P

Maybe they'd be satisfied if he changed it to "Vote For Your Own Party Who Is Not Endorsed By This Campaign and Then Die At A Later Date From Completely Unrelated Natural Causes".

Not quite as catchy though.

Well, how does he know that you won't actually die? What makes him assume that, if you don't vote on Election Day, Puff Daddy and his posse won't do a drive by and shoot up your house?

They may very well do so, but I doubt that they'll hit anything but air with their HoMeBoY NiTe-SyTe™ equipped Glocks. :P

The funniest episode I have seen sense the one where seniors were forbidon to drive.
For I dipt into the future, far as human eye could see,
Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be;
Saw the heavens fill with commerce, argosies of magic sails,
Pilots of the purple twilight dropping down with costly bales;
Heard the heavens fill with shouting, and there rain'd a ghastly dew
From the nations' airy navies grappling in the central blue;

Since, uh, I'm not actually going to die...

Can I go get my vote back now? While it was brief, my relationship with that ballot was very intense, and I'd like to explore the future possibilities.

No no no. It means vote or die, because if you die, your vote will be cast anyways by shit bag political opertives and you won't get a say in what canidate you vote for. :P
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

You may find it funny, but this is the same kind of campaign that Rock the Vote is running. They had an advertisement with Samuel L. Jackson trying to scare the shit out of young voters saying that one of the biggest issues in this election is the possibility of a draft, but not mentioning who he thinks which candidate would do what. However, we do know that Democrats have been attempting to portray Bush as the candidate who would bring the draft into effect. This kind of scaremongering puts a certain picture into people's minds, thus when it's brought up by a "non-biased" action group, the first picture they draw in their mind is the one that was placed there by a different source in the first place.

The irony here is that the only bills in Congress to reinstate the draft were introduced by the Democrats themselves. :roll:

Correct. I find it funny however that some of the campaign tricks pulled by liberals this year seem to portray Bush as someone who WOULD re-instate the draft, when he has spoken out against it.
