WTF?? More SNL Lipsyncing!

I just watched Eminem on SNL, and he was CLEARLY lipsyncing his song! Usually, when you take the mic away from your mouth and its hanging by your hip, you usually can't hear anything coming from the performer's mouth...

That's it. SNL has degenerated far beyond "jumping the shark".
They used to DEMAND that their musical acts perform live, The Thompson Twins in the 80's made complete asses of themselves because of it.
The musical guest used to be a key feature of the show when it debuted, it was practically THE most important thing.

But now, they let 'em dance around like idiots to a fucking tape.

I think it has less to do with SNL as it does with the record companies. There are precious few popular acts that really can perform live well. SNL can't get big acts and still force them to perform live these days.

It still sucks but frankly it's mostly a result of the shitty state of popular music.

Um I seriously doubt Eminem would need to lip sync. Its not like he has great "singing" ability. I agree with what Montcalm said, it was likely to mock Ashlee Simpson's performance.

Alright, before believing these accusations I would like to see some evidence. Firstly, Eminem is one of the best free style rappers out on top in the industry which means that he has no problem coming up with words on the fly, live in front of other people - I doubt most of you actually realize this part. Secondly... why would he need to lip sync, it's not like he's trying to sing.

And yes, even if he did it was probably him mocking Ashlee Simpson and other pop singers since it's no secret that he abhors the pop industry and the Britney Spears clones. I would like to actually see the performance.

I'll agreee with that assessment 100%. For instance, I don't know where they found that Horatio Sans guy, but he is the worst actor I've EVER seen on there. He can't do a sinlg edamned skit with a straight face. It's like he's perma-stoned. I mean, seeing the players break into a sniggerfest every now and then was one of the neat things about the show, it made it real. But, now it's every other skit. What would have happened if Bill Murray fucked up his Swill skit that way, I wonder? Of course, comparing Bill Murray to anyone on SNL of late is like comparing apples and a festering pile of maggoty, shit-encrusted Haggis™.

On 60 Minutes yesterday the producer or something talked about the Ashlee Simpson incident. He said that the only time people were allowed to lip sync was if the dancing they were doing was important. Of course, that's supposed to be a recent thing.

Ashlee Simpson didn't have much in the way of chorography. Besides how is doing dance moves while singing any more difficult than playing an instrument while singing?

Actually he explained that situation by saying that she her voice was hoarse so they decided to have her lip sync. The particular producer wasn't informed however. Take that as you will.

Well if you're moving around I guess it can screw around with your breathing. So you'd sound weird. Or something.
