No, he didn't. That's the joke, particularly when comparing him to Gordon Freeman.

Biggest improvement I've noticed so far; hand-to-hand combat is a lot more deep. You can target enemies, block, use special moves, even with weapons.

Ah. Guess it might help if I had known who Gordon Freeman was.

Anyway, this sounds like a fun game. I wish I had the cash to go get it. But then again, I'm already edging it with my grades as-is... :(

Gordan Freeman is the player character in Half-Life.

Half... Life?

Ok, just kidding. But at least it explains why I never heard of 'im since I never played it (well, except one little custom mission thingy with that damn AI player jumping like a rabbit on speed...)

I'm not sure if this is universal, or just limited to the one area the players went to last night, but upon swimming to an area they probably shouldn't have been able to access, they instantly got four stars.

Damn this game is pretty fukin tight man

I only have gotten to play like 5 hours in the last day because of class and homework (you know a game is fun when 5 hours is *only* 5 hours...lol), but it is FUN

I can't believe all the cussing in this game. The throw around fuck, shit, and all types of racial slurs like it's their job. It's funny as hell

As for the gameplay, it seems like VC except more options. You can't really improve on the open-ended gameplay of VC, so this isn't a negative at all. I'm still in the beginning of the game basically, only completing a dozen or so missions, so I'm sure there will be all types of things coming up that will blow my mind. My mind is already blown so...ya...lol

The soundtrack is ok...but that's what I thought of VC when I first got it. After awhile most of the songs in VC ended up in my MP3 collection, so I'm sure once I hear some of these songs more I'll begin to like them. The fact that they have Rage Against the Machine, Dr. Dre, Skynard, and America help a lot...but there is a lot of rap that I've never heard of (I guess because all the rap came from 1992 or before, and I haven't listened to old-school rap much).

The character customization is pretty in-depth for a game like this. Obviously, it's not on par with games like SWG and COH, but there are a lot of different clothes you can buy, tattoo's you can get, and hairstyles to wear. I totally buffed by guy out...his muscles stats is maxed out. He looks like 50 Cent or something....a freak of nature lol

ANYWAY I only touched on a few of the things in this game, but I'm going to bed. Gotta get up for my 8:30 class. I'm doing my best not to have this game result in me flunkin out of Purdue lol

Bought it today, haven't had a chance to play it. I was gonna wait for PC, but I've got both GTA III and GTA: VC on PS2, so why not?

I wonder if I should really even seriously expect to find it at Blockbuster on a Friday to play it. :)

Still, it has Samuel L. Fuckin' Jackson as a voice. This is a must-buy for sure.

EDIT: Wee little typo (not in Mr. Jackson's name, though)

Yes, this will happen. You get four stars.

The worst part is if you hop the guard shack into the airport, jack a plane, and fly to a restricted area! They sent a Goddamn Harrier up to shoot me down!

I think the idea behind the guy in grand theft auto three not having a voice was that you take up the personality and you are the character - or something like that.

Uhh... Ghost, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you stealing their bandwidth?
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

So far, I'm not impressed. The little improvements are great, but this game isn't drawing me in the way GTA III and GTA:VC did. Especially Vice City. In Vice City, I wanted to finish the next mission so I could find out what would happen to Tommy Vercetti next. In this game, on the other hand, I can't be bothered to give a shit about CJ. I think the game would be better for me if this was my first GTA experience, and the novelty of being able to drive anywhere, jack anything, and kill anyone hadn't long since worn off.

And the missions in the early part of the game are tedious. Go buy fried chicken! Yeah, I know what they're trying to do: get the exposition out of the way in cakewalk missions instead of cut scenes. It's just not working very well.

It kind of caught me off guard. I wanted to go pick up some bitchin threads but I couldn't until I got to the mission. Now that I'm pimpin' I can't get into the Sacks or Victim places (haven't tried Zips yet). Since those place would have the bitchin threads, I'm kind of annoyed I have to "unlock" them somewhere along the way.

That and I'm awaiting the car modification place to open up for me. Damn I need to go look at those mission guides so I know what path to take to open this shit up.

Car modification- Sweet's missions. He gets you to go follow your sister to see where she's going with her Hispanic b/f, who you of course don't like. You have to do a low-riding contest that's akin to a dancing game, but that's after the garage is already unlocked. Bet $1000 on the outcome, you'll win so easily it's not funny (unless you're a complete retard).

And btw, I'm enjoying the fuck out of this game. If only it was as easy to get ripped in real-life as it is in GTA:SA.

What about the other three clothing shops? I want to get the real bling on!

Although runing around in the combat jacket, dog tags, urban camo pants, black shows, and black rag (back) hat and black rag "shades" is so much fun. I'm like a damn terrorist.

Which, when you consider my little rampage, wasn't too far off the mark. :D
Vympel wrote:And btw, I'm enjoying the fuck out of this game. If only it was as easy to get ripped in real-life as it is in GTA:SA.
Oh yeah. Damn I'm envious.

So, what's your preferred method of style?

I like the green jeans, black tanktop, green lowtops, blue shades, and dogtags as my everyday wear (since my guy is so well ripped, it works well).

An alternate to this is the green hoody and the green cap (backwards).

My little "assault" mode is as described above: urban camo pants, combat jacket, black lowtops, the black rag (with the tied end in back) and another black rag as my mask.

If I were kickin' ass gangsta-style, I'd do the green jeans, green lowtops, green hoody, and the green rags for head and face.

I also bought the shirt and vest from Sub Urban because it looked nice. I wear that with the green shorts and some version of sneaks.

My hair style is cornrolls. Always. I found some place that'll do some funky shit, but Reece's is the place to go.

No tats as of yet; I didn't really like the selection they had offered.

I also keep my dude pretty ripped as mentioned above. I'd say he's pretty good, but my muscle stat certainly isn't the highest level. It's about 3/4s up though.

So, what're your methods of style?

My guy (subject to change hehe):

Cornrows (or afro...depends on my mood)
Grey jeans/pants
White boxers stickin out of pants
Pure white kicks
No shirt...100% muscle and tats everywhere

I swear to god he looks just like 50 cent lol

I've been experimenting with a few different combos, but that looks the best so far I think
