How goes polling for you guys?

Post by SyntaxVorlon »

I just sat in the longest fucking line I have ever seen in my life. 5 hours waiting to vote. 5 FUCKING hours. How has voting been in your precincts?

I went in, got my ballot, voted and left.

For my line (D's and some other last name letters), there were no people. It only took me a minute or so, only because I simply decided to re-read everything a few times. However this was at around 11:30 AM, and early voting around here seems to have taken some of the slack. (My parents, who voted on Saturday night, waited for one and a half hours.)

30 minutes but then, I did go in very early. I've had friends who have waited one hour in line and another who waited 1.5 hours. After today, I get this real strong sense that it seems like everyone who can vote has voted; my grandparents, who are usually apathetic to politics, casted a vote today.

I actually worked at the polls as a poll-checker today from 11:30-2:00 and there were no lines at all. The voter turnout for my particular district looked very high. By the time I left, almost 80% of the registered voters on my list had already voted.

It was fun getting to see the party affiliation for each person going through.

Things were quick for me - no more than a minute and a half - but I arrived at five minutes to eight this morning, so very few others were present.

The lines were long because that precinct polls a good chunk, maybe half, of the campus, and it's a very politically active campus. Liberal to boot, so everyone was out and voting. At least the music was nice, they brought in Organ majors to practice in the sanctuary for us.

Let's see... 11 AM in Kansas (aka if there's a bright center in the universe, it's the state farthest from it) = nobody else in line.

Really, the only delay I had was me taking a minute to write in "Charles Darwin" for the Kansas Board of Education.

45 minutes give or take. My polling place, a VFW hall, was pretty well organized with 2 dozen voting stations.

I waited maybe one minute to be escorted to my fancy-schmancy touchscreen computerized ballot thing.

I voted near my home. Got in line at 0620, voted at about 0710.

USF's line was enormous.

not even a minute for me.
For I dipt into the future, far as human eye could see,
Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be;
Saw the heavens fill with commerce, argosies of magic sails,
Pilots of the purple twilight dropping down with costly bales;
Heard the heavens fill with shouting, and there rain'd a ghastly dew
From the nations' airy navies grappling in the central blue;

I'm in Connecticut here and I went with 6 of my friends to re-register and vote in Storrs as my absentee ballot never arrived and we we're given the biggest run around ever about how our student ID's were not good enough for proof of residence and how we needed 6 pieces of mail to verify our adresses. After 30 minutes of waiting and arguing eventually we were allowed to register and vote.

Oh and I think it's important to add that all of us who went to vote are minorities.

This morning at my school library (one of the local polling places) had a line of elderly reaching out the door and to the corner. At 7 AM.

When I left school around 5, there didn't seem to be any wait, but the place was definitely busy.
