Kentucky's not done yet. I'm here, and seeing the local news. Bush is in the lead, but not by much, and not all the precincts have reported in yet. I'm sorry to say that I can't say the same on the gay marriage ban; so far there are 499,000 some odd votes in favor, and 236,000 some odd against.
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

Looks like it's being kept current, AV.

Bush will almost certainly take Ohio. Even with the piss-poor job climate there are too many all-republican strongholds like the area around Wright Patterson AFB.

"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

The electoral college, protecting the masses from themselves since 1789. Excellent. Oklahoma voted for Bush. No surprise there.

At this point, it looks like Bush has made some significant gains in Florida; he's grabbed some counties he didn't get in 2000. Kerry's currently on top in Ohio.

Governors aren't good indicators, because governors will take positions relative to their state's moderate center, rather than the national centerist. Christie Whitman, our last governor, was a Republican, but she would have been a Democrat outside the Northeast.Jadeite wrote:Well, we have had a Democratic governor for the past 16 years.Sokar wrote:IIRC Indiana hasn't gone Democratic since before the New Deal.....

How big was his margin of victory? Because, I heard polls showing him with a 40% margin of victory over Keyes.Joe wrote:Obama wins in Illinois, as if this is a surprise.
Anyway, I'm thinking it's safe to say that if either Bush or Kerry wins both Florida and Ohio, they have the election. However, I don't think we'll really have an idea of who wins those states until all the precincts have reported, since the projected winner in each state right now seems to have an unusually high margin of victory for a "swing state".

Re: Bush 66-Kerry 77
A little premature - as of right now, only 25% of the polls have checked in with results, and of those the split was 52/48 Bush/Kerry.fgalkin wrote:Well, the first results are in. Bush carried Indiana
There are also a significant number of new voters, and a high turn-out expected. In 2000, Porter County had an 85%+ voter turn-out, and indications are that they might beat that this time around. NW Indiana has a large number of democrats, and their polls hadn't closed at the time of the OP, so those results weren't even in the 25% tally.
All that said, yes, Indiana is expected to go Republican in the presidential race. And Dewey was expected to beat Truman.
We'll see.
CNN just called SC and Virginia. Arkansas is still too close to call; maybe sending Clinton there was a good idea.

In other news, Daschle and Thune are in a dead heat in South Dakota. Pay attention to this race, it's going to have a huge impact on what the Senate becomes.

I wouldn't be too worried. The recent gains are from wins in southern states where a Bush victory could be seen from a mile away, and will probably be balanced out as California, New York, and other typically Democratic states report.Sharpshooter wrote:102-77 for Bush according to Fox News...
