Perfectly normal for the lead to swing back and forth for a bit.

The news outlets waited until at least some polls closed... but like I said, a lot of this is premature. I just rechecked my own state, and the areas with both the largest population and the largest democrats have not reported at all... but on the basis of sparsely populated rural counties they claim to call it already.

Regardless, I'd like a clear win this time, not the nonesense of waking up tomorrow morning with everyone going "HUH?" and three weeks of MORE politcal bullshit.

To be fair, CNN shows a lead of about 250,000 votes for Bush at this point. Do those areas have enough voters to overcome that kind of lead?

The heaviest populated counties in my state haven't reported yet, just the southren most ones, next to Texas.

CNN says the electoral vote initiative will fail with certainty. That's 3 or 4 votes from Kerry.

155 to 112 now, that red spreads fast. New York went to Kerry has you might guess Bush got from Texas all way north to North Dakota.

New York will probably be called very shortly for Kerry, though oddly enough Yahoo is currently reporting a 50-50 split - I shit you not.

Uh-oh. Irregularities in Pittsburgh. Apparently a downtown precinct will stay open for an additional 90 minutes (from 8:00) - probably good news for Kerry.

I agree. The shit CNN is pulling now doesn't fly with me. Only 10-20% of precincts have voted in some places where they've already called a winner, with the difference only being something like 3% of the votes.

MSNBC now has Bush listed at 156.

On another note, it looks as though the poplar vote is shifting to Kerry - Bush is down to 53% from around 56%, I think. Maybe we'll get the shift mentioned before in the next few minutes.
