Calm amid the storm
Right now, I sit here, in Canada, and watch as the polls of Election '04 slide back and forth between contestants. I know that whoever wins, even with their foreign policies towards Canada, none of what they do will affect me in the slightest. I'll be disgusted or amused by the problems of one or another, but I'll only read or hear about what happens. I also know that I am entirely impotent about the whole thing.
But in a morbid curiosity, or altruism, I watch the election polls, hoping that Kerry will win, so maybe things'll get better. I'm sure that there may be others in this country, though probably much rarer than the States, also watching, with fingers crossed, that Bush will win.
So, feeling like a man watching a hurricane from miles off, impotent, curious, worried, and analytical. By the time I wake up tomorrow, the leader of the free world might have already been chosen, before the lawyer swarms attck, and without my knowledge or input. It won't affect me in the slightest, I might not even care very much, but as of this writing, I fearfully wait for the polls to close and an answer to present itself.
-My 2 cents

Though I am fearful of the outcome, I absolutely adore ellection night. I don't know why, but it's just such a wonderful tense feeling for me. I hate sports but I tailgate for ellection night. While I envy you for not having to live with the results come tommorow, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else tonight.

Could you consider go to Japan?Superman wrote:You know what, I might seriously move to Canada. Why the fuck not? My wife has been stuck in Japan because of the goddam INS here not processing her papers, I hate Bush, I currently have no health or dental insurance, and I honestly think I can make a better life in Canada.

You would want a house? Not going to happen in Japan for any acceptable price. And the cost of living there is murder.Superman wrote:Yeah, I could move to Japan and teach there or something, but I wouldn't want to live there. Things are expensive, too small for me, and I could probably never get a house that I would want.

I know, I wrestled there for many years. My in laws have two houses there though, one in Shinagawa Tokyo and one in Nagano. We could probably rent one or whatnot, but houses in Japan are not built for Americans. Go visit someone who lives there to see what I mean. You would want a house?
