I'm sure Yarcamos would very much like to discuss his reasoning in the thread on the gay marriage ban bills. It does not belong here.

I successfully cancelled out Dad's vote, but Mom came out of nowhere and made it a +1 for Turd Sandwich.

Good GOD some of the Senate races are close.

In Florida, the difference is less than 50k votes.

In SD, right now, the difference is only TWO THOUSAND VOTES, with a third of the precincts left.

In Colorado, the difference is only 3000 votes (in a state with well over 1.5 million voters), and a third left to report.

I'm not going to get into it tonight. I merely will tell you I support it. I'll debate it at another time, I'm just interested in watching the results tonight.

Pretty high by American standards, from what I heard. A report on the radio earlier today estimated around 60% (it's usually around 50%, IIRC).

Its pretty cool but I've retired to my den with the radio as my companion.
The touch screen voting today was pretty cool too, although I dont have any problem with paper ballots either.

We didn't have a touchscreen. It was computerized though. You turned this little dial-like thing to scroll up or down the choices, and pressed the enter button to select.

At the end of my touchscreen session it showed how I voted on everything at once. The monitors were shaped like a wide screen TV and turned sideways. There was a little memory card you had to put into the unit, when you were done the card would pop out and the poll worker would stick it into a reader.

According to NBC Bush is at 269 (carried Ohio).... so looks like Bush is going to win.
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

That's weird.... According to the exit polls, Kerry won by a majority, and not only that it was very consistent with historic treads. I hope this means lots of provisional or absentee ballots, not screwed up polls again or even worse voter fraud.

Meanwhile, Senator Daschle may be unemployed. Right now, he's VERY narrowly losing his senate seat. The Republicans may have just decapitated the Democrats in the Senate.

Hey guys, here's something else to chew on. The Republicans are going to have between 53 and 55 senate seats, and Daschle might be out of a job (ie. the Democrats in the Senate have just been decapitated). The Republicans also seem to have EXTENDED their control of the House. We now have ALL THREE branches of government controlled by the Republicans, all of them by potentially VERY solid majorities.

I don't like that. That's too much power. There needs to be some sort of balance. At least make it close in the Senate, like 51/49 so one party can't just pass things on a whim.

So does this mean they can now pass just about anything they want?

There's also the fact that Bush got over 50 percent of the popular vote this time around. That hasn't happened since the 1980s! He can claim a mandate now with more perceived legitimacy than he had in the aftermath of 2000.

55-44-1 is almost absurd. With the House pretty solidly under Republican control, the Democratic Party is going to have to massively restructure just to stay afloat.

I like Republican policies, but I like them as they're balanced against Democrat policies. I dislike extremes...extremely.
