Say, any one remember that African "President" whose people loved him so much he used to win over 105% of the vote?

Go here to find out Bob Erlich's policies:

http://www.dangerousdozen.com/gov.php#re

Congressman Bob Ehrlich (R-MD)

Voted to repeal the federal Assault Weapons Ban , even though the measure was supported by law enforcement across the nation. The law prohibits certain types of rapid-fire, military style assault weapons that are the weapon of choice for gangs and drug dealers. Also was a leader in the opposition to the Maryland Assault Weapons Ban.

Voted against meaningful federal legislation to close the gun show loophole. Instead, he voted for an NRA proposal that would have weakened existing law by reducing the amount of time for law enforcement to conduct background checks on gun sales, making it easier for criminals to buy guns.

Voted against the Maryland ban on "Saturday Night Special" Handguns, that are commonly used in crimes.

Voted against Child Access Prevention laws that hold gun owners responsible if they leave loaded guns around children.

Has publicly stated he would "examine some of Maryland's gun laws," including the State's ballistic fingerprinting law, with an eye toward repealing them.

Given an "A" rating by the NRA.

Running against Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, a supporter of sensible gun laws.

She's a Kennedy.

From her campaign Literature:

KATHLEEN KENNEDY TOWNSEND
TOUGH, COMMON SENSE GUN CONTROL
Kathleen Kennedy Townsend has worked tirelessly to craft tough, progressive, common sense
gun control laws for Maryland. She will oppose any attempt to roll back these laws that save an
average of 40 lives a year and will make common-sense adjustments to protect our families from
gun violence.
A RECORD OF STANDING UP TO THE N.R.A.
• Made ballistic fingerprinting of handguns the law in Maryland. Kathleen’s efforts to get
the Responsible Gun Safety Act of 2000 passed made Maryland one of only two states to
establish a database of handgun “fingerprints.”
• Fought to ban Saturday Night Specials. Kathleen worked with Citizens for Eliminating
Saturday Night Specials to ensure that this landmark legislation became law.
• Limited handgun purchases to one a month and outlawed “straw purchases”. As part of
the groundbreaking Gun Violence Act of 1996, Kathleen fought to limit gun purchases in
Maryland to one in a 30-day period to prevent straw purchases -- one of the primary means
for criminals to obtain handguns.
• Championed trigger locks on handguns. The Responsible Gun Safety Act of 2000, for
which Kathleen led the fight, made Maryland the first State in the nation to require built-in
trigger locks on handguns.
Strengthened penalties and prosecution of felons who are caught with a gun. The
Responsible Gun Safety Act of 2000 made Maryland’s laws for felons caught with a gun
even stronger than the federal law and established a CEASEFIRE grant program to support
aggressive prosecution of gun crime.

A COMMON-SENSE VISION TO PROTECT OUR FAMILIES
Expand ballistic fingerprinting to cover all assault weapons. Kathleen will expand
Maryland’s ballistic fingerprinting requirements to include all assault weapons sold in
Maryland, both new and used.
Expand the authority of the Handgun Roster Board to control military-style assault
weapons. Kathleen would tighten Maryland’s definition of assault weapons to make it harder
for manufacturers to evade legal restrictions through minor technical changes, and will give
the Handgun Roster Board the ability to regulate these new “knockoffs”.
By authority of Friends of Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Stacie Rivera, Treasurer

Yes, I live in Maryland.... :? It's a lovely place, but I'm a bit sick of it at the moment. Have been in a travelling mood since I studied in Australia a couple years ago.... But I'm especially looking to escape considering what's going on with the goddamn elections. Ehrlich is WINNING?! Egad. This vexes me. I am vexed.

WTF?

Under Glendening, we led the US in violent crimes, and he took us from a
massive budget surplus to a massive budget DEFICIT......

If KKT had won, we'd be simply......SCREWED!

I guess I should have been more specific--I am not in favour of Ehrlich, and I'm not in favour of KKT either. I think they both suck. But one of Ehrlich's points, him voting against the Child Access Prevention laws, makes him worse than her, in my opinion. The lesser of the two Eeeevils. Not that it matters, since he'll probably be happily in office soon.......

I take it you voted for Ehrlick then? :)

Of course. Shep thinks that violent ex-convicts such as himself should be able to purchase military weapons! It goes without saying that he doesn't think parents should be held responsible for leaving loaded weapons where children can reach them.

Hey, the entire reason I didn't vote in this election was because of this
law:

http://www.elections.state.md.us/citize ... ation.html

To register to vote in Maryland, you must be:

a U.S. Citizen;
a Maryland resident;
18 years old by the next General Election;
not disqualified by a criminal record;
not under guardianship for mental disability.

The U.S. Department of Justice provides information on
restoring the right to vote for individuals who have been
disqualified because of a criminal conviction.

http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/restorevote/Maryland.htm

Can I vote while I am incarcerated in Maryland?

If you are a resident of Maryland, and you have been convicted of theft or other infamous crime, or of buying or selling votes, you cannot vote in Maryland elections while you are incarcerated. Infamous crime means any felony, treason, perjury, or any crime involving an element of deceit, fraud or corruption. If you are a resident of another state who is temporarily incarcerated in Maryland, you may be able to vote an absentee ballot for your home state. Consult the law of your home state regarding both criminal convictions and absentee ballots to see if this is a possibility.

I have been released from incarceration. How do I restore my right to vote?

In Maryland, if you are a first time offender for theft or infamous crime, other than buying or selling votes, your right to vote is automatically restored upon completion of your sentence, including any probation or parole.

If you have been convicted of two or more such crimes, you are not eligible to vote unless and until you obtain a pardon.

If you were convicted of buying or selling votes, you are permanently prohibited from voting in Maryland.

It used to be that you could petition the BATF to get your
right to firearms back, but that office was mysteriously
defunded in the 90s.

It's currently the setting of a Supreme Court Case involving
a gun dealer who got assraped by the Mexican Gov't for the
horrible crime of having some ammo rolling around in his
car trunk in mexico.

Heh. Think that's depressing? California is already $22 billion in debt, and according to the most recent results, our super-smart voters have decided to add about another $13 billion to that.

Yes, and they're fast on their way to have a government structure the size of France's, too.

ABSENTEE ballots......Expect the Dead to get out and vote TWICE for
Townsend....

I'm a bit apprehensive, as we were in this exact same situation back
in 1994, with Saubery and Glendening....

The Democrat formula for winning statewide is to win Baltimore City, and Montgomery and Prince George's County (D.C. beltway suburbs). Even losing ALL 21 OTHER COUNTIES, Dems can win statewide office (sort of a Red/Blue zone deal in miniature). This was the formula used by Glendening in 94 and 98.

Also, traditionally Baltimore city is the last to report in (cause they're the most screwed up), and always represents a huge surge at the end. They wait till last to see how many votes are needed & then always put the Democrook over the top.

WALL STREET JOURNAL -

When it comes to political dishonesty, Maryland has a reputation almost as rich as New Jersey's. Think of Spiro Agnew, or the notorious 1994 governor's race when amazing turnout in Baltimore defeated Republican Ellen Sauerbrey by 6,000 votes.

Well, here they go again. In danger of losing the governorship for the first time since 1966, the Maryland Democratic Party is planning to pay more than 1,000 people up to $110 each to be "poll-watchers" today. This is certainly a novel get-out-the-vote strategy. It sounds suspiciously like an official version of "street money," the quiet and illegal cash that some politicians distribute to ministers and other notables to get their flock to the polls. When GOP consultant Ed Rollins boasted of paying cash to suppress the black vote in New Jersey a few years back, the political class went wild with outrage.

There's been little such uproar over Maryland, however, even though Democratic Attorney General Joseph Curran has big doubts. "It may be very narrowly legal, but beyond that I would urge caution," he told the Washington Post. He's "not sure it's in the spirit of what the law is."

That's for sure. Maryland law bars parties or candidates from hiring poll workers to lobby voters on Election Day, passing out sample ballots or engaging in "electioneering." But Democrats say they are exploiting a loophole that allows workers to urge voters to go to the polls without mentioning a candidate. If you believe that, you probably don't know what the meaning of the word electioneering is.

No political party is without sin, but this year Chairman Terry McAuliffe's Democrats seem to be outdoing themselves: We've already seen the Torricelli switcheroo, suspicious South Dakota absentee Indian ballots and the bingo-for-votes scam for the Wisconsin mentally retarded. If today's elections are close, look for charges of "disenfranchisement" and for flotillas of lawyers to repeat Florida 2000.
