No data. Note that Maine is entirely grey. It went to Kerry.

Maricopa County is the most populated in Arizona, and it's undecided, too.
Hmmm...

(edit) Same thing for Sedgewick County in Kansas.....

Really shows how much population density skews the vote, though. New York went massively for Kerry, and Michigan wasn't even close, even though there's much more red in both of those states than blue.

*shrug* It reflects the fact that America is a highly urbanized nation and that cities vote to the left. Anybody who looks at that map and thinks even for a moment that the overwhelming Bush advantage in area actually means anything has the mentality of a child.

Looking at Florida, I've noticed that all the counties with Universities (UCF, UF, USF, FSU) are all Blue, and the rest of Central and North Florida is red...

Is that where all the old people with blue rinse hair and names like George and Barbara live and play golf on weekends?

The map is kinda misleading too, if you don't think about it. I'm guessing its just like the electorate system - just because a county voted for Bush or Kerry doesn't indicate how wide the division was.

Anyways just a few observations... The urban areas do indeed tend to lean Democratic - I found the patch of blue in the south of Texas interesting. Immigrant Mexicans? Minorities have always tended to vote Democratic...

There seems to be a line of Kerry supporters along the Mississippi River, although there's a huge gap in Missouri. Not too surprising considering they voted, what, 90% in favor of the ban on gay marriages/civil unions?

I'm proud of Hawaii though :)

That's a bigass county in Arizona.

EDIT: Apparently Burlington County hasn't reported yet. What the hell's the matter there? Did pineys hijack the truck with the ballots and cornhole the driver or something?

That'd be hilarious to read in the paper tomorrow. A sort of bizarre Bonnie & Clyde police chase ensues across the nation.

Incidentally, my dad had a statistic that said that 96% of the counties went for Bush, this time around. That's a huge problem for the Democrats. Being the party of black voters isn't going to do it in the future. They need to win more demographic groups convincingly, since the ones they have aren't getting it done.

Are we going to get updated county maps later? That gray Maine is irritating me, as are the gray spots that should be cities such as Chicago and Atlanta among others. I know Fulton County (Georgia) went to Kerry, but it shows as gray on the map.
