Initial (extreme) reactions to the Election.

Post by THEHOOLIGANJEDI »

Mods if this is either in the wrong forum, is redundant, etc. Do what you wish.

I'm just curious, what were some of the more extreme feelings and reactions to the election results, if any. By extreme I mean: Did you Scream at the TV, beat up you Republican friend, etc.

Me, I just thought that maybe all the wackjobs who voted for Bush should be faced with another terror attack. In some respect I was actually rooting for Bin Laden. I also hoped that the US would suffer a massive recession that would dwarf the Great Depression. Those NeoCon wackjobs need to be taugh a lesson!!  :D

Then I calmed down a bit. So what about the rest of you.

Doesn't directly affect me so it wasn't too bad a reaction but I was mad about it because he is causing people we know (friends in the military)to go to war. I was just talkingto my sister and venting with her. That's about it.

Hoped Ohio would lose 200,000 MORE jobs and see if Bush was still the right choice.

I yelled at my friends a lot that the apocalypse is imminent. I hijacked a public address system and said as much. I think at one point I punched a Bush supporter because of the smirk on his face. After a while, I calmed down to a level of simple despondence.

I went over to Ohio and took a piss on their capital building, in front of an army of Bush supporters.

Except not.

But I did rant and rave for a bit.

No initial reactions, really. CBS sloooooooooooowly eased people into it because they wanted to keep ratings up. However, I did sort of freak out when I saw CNN.com had turned Ohio purple, as anyone who was in the thread keeping track of the election at the time can attest to.

Shrugged and got over it. It's not like I was a very enthusiastic Kerry supporter to begin with.

Recovered from my initial shell-shock, and spent most of yesterday spreading freedom -- I mean humor-- , to my shell-shocked friends, both in person and online.

The election itself only rated a "shit" but the 11 gay/civil marriage bans with margins of ~60 to more than 90% rated a rather loud and repeated "WHAT THE FUCK?!"

When I woke up in the morning of election day, I refused to get my hopes up about the election. I wanted Kerry to win, but the way things had gone since his nomination, I still wasn't convinced he could win outright. Long story short, when it came down to it at the end of the night, I knew it was over. I was pissed, and went to bed.

When I woke up the next day, it was pretty clear that all was said and done. I was (and am) still annoyed, because I wanted Kerry to win, and I think that the Nation is worse off than it would be with Kerry in command, but all hope isn't lost. Maybe because I didn't build myself up for it, I'm not as badly hurt by it, I dunno.

I will admit though that I snapped at some people in the emigration thread. Some things really press my buttons, and that particular subject is a bit of a sore point for me, for various reasons.

Started hoping that someone would nuke the US to the point we have a huge Panema Canal and still do :?

Then again I kinda expected this since my opinion of the US and their people in general couldn't sink lower anyway.

Actually, at least this time they managed to actually get a clear election result where the popular vote reflected the EC vote for the first time in twelve years...

Seriously, though, my opinion of the American voting public has only suffered from the (very possibly ill informed) impression that they are willing to accept a campaign fought exclusively on mudslinging and shitbaggery.

I propose, in 2008, that every American voter writes in, on their ballot "how about some actual policies in your campaigns next time, fuckers!"

As much as I wanted Dubya out of office, I was never too optimistic about Kerry's chances, what with his incompetant campaign, seeming inability to express his position clearly, and his failure to respond to personal attacks against him or goofs that Bush dropped right in his lap...

The debates upped my confidence in him a for a short period of time, but after the effect "wore off", my overall opinion of his chances hadn't changed much. As I watched the counters on election night progress, more and more I felt my pessemism was proving correct. Before I want to bed, when Ohio was still "too close to call", but Bush had a decisive lead in the popular vote, I was already certain of the results. When it became "official" the next day, I felt no strong emotions or dissapointment, as this was the result I had been expecting (but hoping against) all along...

I wanted to throw some tear gas out in the hall, but that was more to shut people up so I could sleep than in frustration over the result. I was more worried about Maya.

I had already had a bad feeling that Bush would be re-elected so I guess I wasn't totally shocked. Basically I just shook my head in disgust and turned off the tv.

We're not all stupid idiots, really. I know the election results don't do much to indicate that, but...
