Ahh, they bet everything on the farm, used every dirty trick they had in
their wings, and STILL LOST.

I hate Daschle so much that I'm actually glad this happened, even though it gives the Republicans a fucking choke-hold on the Senate. I'm watching the remaining races, now, to see if one of the Democrats is going to pull one of those off, but it's not looking too good.

Daschle is one of the reasons I abhor the Democratic leadership. Every time I watched that milquetoast weasel speaking on something, I felt my testicles shrinking.

Daschle has been totally worthless as an opposition leader. No great loss for the Democrats

Daschle has, however, managed to make himself thoroughly annoying to everyone involved in politics. Good riddance, I say. Hopefully, now, the Democrats will put someone up with a little bite.

It does however, leave Hillary as the heir apparent for the leadership of the Democratic party- the only serious contender I see is Ed Rendell.
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

I am not a fan of Daschle, but there was a great article in the New York Time Magazine a couple months ago about how brutally hard it is for a Democrat to get elected in South Dakota. He never had a safe seat, especially with the Republicans going all out to knock him out. A mistake, IMHO. Now the Democrats might get a leader who will lead.

Fat Eddy could make a run against Santorum in two years. I'm willing to bet money he'd smash that homophobic prick handily and maybe even have a shot at a Presidential nomination.

You haven't learned the lesson yet that SENATORS NEVER WIN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS? (only one ever has and only just barely and well because it was against another senator) Or do you want another 100 years of data to support that assertation? Governors make superior Presidents and candidates because they actually have to govern instead of senators who just pass wacky laws and don't have to deal with the consequenses. That is why people like Reagan, Clinton, Rosevelt were so tremendously sucessful.

Ahem. The senator in question was the over-sainted JFK, and he was running against the sitting Vice President, Richard Milhous Nixon.

Just a nitpick, though. The thrust of your assertion is true.

Just because senators never win doesn't mean they'd make BAD presidents. That just means they have never been given a chance to try. This is mostly because governors have more of a record to stand on in terms of executive duties and because they don't live in Washington, where the daily compromises that makes up the bread and butter of politics come back to bite a sentaor in the ass.

If they're saying fuck senority, grab Obama. He's someone people will rally around. Hillary is just to easy a target for the extreme right.

no, he has absolutely no experience working in the federal government. They'd just as soon give it to Durandal. :P

Hillary's an easy target for not just the extreeme right, but the more moderate and moderate-right, too. Hillary is just way too out there for most in the US.

I would love to see Fat Eddie kick Santorum's ass. I don't think he has a chance in hell of winning the Democratic nomination for President, but we can always hope for a fat, bald slob with a raspy voice in the Oval Office. I'd vote for him just to see him stuff a huge hoagie in his face in the Lincoln Bedroom or take time off from being President to be a commentator on the Eagles Post Game Live.

He'd also easily be the most-merchandizable President we've had in recent memory.

I wonder if they'd bring up the snowball incident during the campaign.

Eddie was at an Eagles game and he bet the guy next to him $20 that he couldn't hit the Cowboys' coach with a snowball. The end result was that the Cowboys' coach got blitzed with a hurricane of snowballs from Eagles fans.
