Yes he did, watch ROJT. While he's cackling and stuff you see his teeth (saber clash between Vader & Luke in front of him) and when he's zapping Luke with lightning he's gritting his teeth, and you can see the rotten stains.Stravo wrote:That demon dude, I would never think that was Sidious. His robes are brown and the Emperor never displayed teeth like that. Watch ROTJ. Even when he's pissed and angrily frying Luke he just looks like a shriveled old man.
And please, I am trying to remain Spoiler free for this movie so if there is an explanation that involves a spoiler I prefer you just tell me that it will be explained in the movie.
Palpy has the same weird-ass features (huge bags under the eyes, strange brows) and yellow reptilian eyes (with red around them on the whites of his eyeballs). Granted, in a few scenes his makeup looks different in ROTJ, but that one scene I think it's clear that it's him.
In the 2004 ESB scene with Ian, the makeup he's using isn't identical to ROTJ, but it's pretty close. It's supposed to be the same character. And even though he's a hologram, his yellow eyes are unmistakable in that scene.
And maybe he just got a new robe in 20+ years (I hope so!).
Shriveled old man? I would agree with you except for the eyes, more or less. But watch the scene where he's saying "Oh.. I'm afraid, the deflector shield will be quite operational, when your friends arrive..." he looks like an alien! (well, by cheap-o sci fi standards)
Sometimes Palpy does remind me of some guy in a halloween mask or some elderly goth guy, but that may be the effect they were going for. I mean Maul reminds many people of a classic "devil" too. That was intentional.
