Oh no, Christian values must be held above all others. The Bible should be law! Hail Jesus, our Eternal Emperor, with George W. Bush as the Divinely Chosen Leader of Jesusland! We shall drive out the nonwhites and homosexuals and the rest of the Sodomites and have a glorious, white, God-fearing nation ready to show the light of Christ to all those freedom-loving heathens!
All hail Jesusland and it's glorious happy places!

Seriously folks advocating Civil war as a necessity is bullshit and you know it.

If America's democratic process actually did work then you wouldn't have the problem in the first place.
Yup guess all those votes that Bush won by doesn't represent the democratic process because Kerry didn't win.

Total Strawman. I never linked the fact that Bush won to the failure of the democratic process, infact it would be even worse if Kerry had won because he was so far behind in the popular vote.

America's democratic process fails because of a number of reasons. Poor voter education, the electoral college, corporate campaign contributions, religious intererance, ethnic interferance, the fact that polling booths are poorly equipped to deal with a voter turnout when it goes over 52%. The entire system is faulty and needs to be reworked from the ground up. Kerry getting in wouldn't have fixed any of this and I for one never claimed it would. Bush getting in just made it a little more transparent.

would you believe I annoyed everyone around me by singing "Ironic"?

no, I am too much of a cynic, since the whole damn thing is still rigged, just more obviously then it used to be, and since I spent too long working for the state government. I am just too jaded. However when I looked at the elections that really matter (state and local) I started dancing.

Oh please, enlighten us on how it was rigged.

because politics is an inhariently rigged event, elections on a national level goes to whom ever can spend the most money. It therefore was a pre-gone conclusion. Just manipulate the proles, and the sheep will follow the soundbites, and what ever Fox TV tells them to do.

Kerry's fundraising came close to Bush's and if you look at the 527's and the money they spent, it looks like the Kerry backing 527's spent a lot more money than the Bush ones.
What's really interesting is looking at the donors behind the 527's.
When you do the math, the liberal or Democrat leaning 527's raked in over $90 million from the big money people compared to a fraction of that amount going to conservative or Republican leaning 527's.

The spending by the 527's reflects the Democrat leaning committees success at raising money.
$216 million spent by liberal 527's as compared to $81 million spent by conservative ones is hardly indicative of a huge gap in Bush's favor.

There are a lot of reasons why Kerry lost, but being hugely outspent isn't one of them.

your right the free ministry of propaganda (I mean FOX) one sided coverage and publicity wasn't a factor at all, nor should it be counted right?

I'll see your FOX and raise it by a CBS w/Dan Rather.

While Fox was undoubtedly cheerleading for Bush, CBS and the other networks were doing their best to sink him so it evens out. Besides, the only people who watch Fox are either right wingers who would vote for Bush anyway and liberals who watch it just to get good and pissed off.

I certainly don't watch it or I'd have shot at my TV a long time ago, as O'Reilly and Hannity do nothing but piss me off.

So the other three networks have no audience in 'Middle America'?

And as far as Clear Channel goes, the CC stations around here offer very little in the way of news coverage beyond local weather and high school sports. They don't influence much beyond helping people decide how to dress for the weather.

The reason the Democrats lost is that Kerry was an awful candidate. They needed a Bill Clinton charismatic centrist type who could rally people to vote for him instead of merely against Bush, and instead they nominated a Massachusetts liberal with all the charisma of a lump of coal.

I said it before; The year I was ready to vote Democrat in disgust with the Republicans, the damn fools had to go and nominate the one candidate that I couldn't support. I would have proudly voted for Dean. I would have held my nose and voted for Gephardt, but I couldn't vote for Kerry.

BTW, I was one of 424 people in my county who voted for Badnarik.

No, I was going to write in Dean, but we switched to electronic voting this year and I was worried about the write in not being counted.

Hey, mine wasn't. McCain wasn't on the list of approved write-ins. But hey, it was a protest vote. This state was going to Bush no matter what I did.

Interestingly enough, Bush won Indiana 60% to 39% for Kerry and 1% for Badnarik.

But our Democratic Senator Evan Bayh won re-election with 62% of the vote.

Lots of ticket splitting went on this year.

I'm aware. I'm from Indiana myself. :P You're in Evansville, right? I'm less than a hundred miles from you, when I'm not at school.

Goldwater himself said that he's so old fashioned his movies came from 19th Century Fox, but I didn't think he was that old fashioned.

I was kind of dissapointed that it didn't go the way I wanted it to go, but I eventually shrugged it off. I'm not expecting the Apocalypse because of Bush's re-election or anything.

Not much reaction from me. I heard the news 'meh'ed and went to class. I am once more reminded of the Douche/Turd Sandwhich episode of south-park.

If you want an extreme reaction though according to the campuse newspaper the head of the student democrats is resigning, dropping out, and making plans to move to Canada.
