Want the utter stupidity of the Voyager crew read here.

Post by Dennis Toy »

The episode is called Basics.. In the episode, the Kazon constitently attack the starboard ventral in an attempt to destroy the secondary command processor. The Voyager crew consists of the most incompetent people in starfleet. No one had actually figured in the first attack that they were attacking the secondary command processor, they were trying to disable the self destruct system.

The next gleeming stupidity is that they seem to not know that the secondary command processor controls the self destruct...what was they doing in starfleet engineering school while everyone else was studying..

And third....

Why is the self destruct even routed or controlled through the secondary command processor.... This is utterly stupid.. This would give the enemy an advantage...why not route it redundantly through all processors. Why isn't it connected to a manual system like a lever or a command system seperate from the main system..

The Voyager crew deserved to be stranded on that planet..

—you're overlooking the prime stupidity of Capt. Incompetent walking her ship into an obvious Kazon trap to satisfy the emotional whims of one of her officers, who in turn was trusting the word of a revealed spy and known liar, then taking a Kazon on board but never bothering to search him for weapons or concealed explosives or other types of sabotage devices on the eve of going into battle, then having her engineering crews waste time on rigging holographic projectors instead of actual functional stealth devices or a cloaking system.

Janeway frankly deserved to lose her ship, and it would have served evolution had she and her imbecile crew had remained trapped on the planet of One Million Years B.C. to become dino-chow.

Was this that same episode where Paris blows up a Kazon ship by using shuttle phasers?

How is it that a warp core that explodes if you look at it cross-eyed suddenly becomes more stable than a basket full of rocks when one computer system is taken out? And how hard would it have been to detonate a few photon torpedos in their tubes or crack open an antimatter storage pod manually? Jesus, those people were stupid.

Wasn't Janeway involved in the building of Voyager? In the first episode they make a big deal about her being familiar with every system.

Janeway only made it across the Delta quadrant because of a certain B we won't mention in full...

The funny thing is that in Star Trek 3, the Enterprise was able to initiate auto-destruct even after the ship had been crippled twice-over. Come on. Auto-destruct should be one of if not the deepest, most protected functions in the computer. It should not be dependant on some pissant little "secondary processor". It should most certainly not be something that is so easily disrupted by a single component failure.

What if it had been a major fleet battle, and the ship had taken heavy damage and was facing imminent boarding? Guess Starfleet would have been SOL then, as enemy forces would have been free to waltz onboard and take command.

And, why the fuck couldn't they just kill power to all the antimatter containment pods? Or start firing a bunch of phasers at the reactor core? Or disable the coolant system, leading to an eventual core breach?

The warp core will instantly explode and the shooters will die.

As for the thread......B&B 'nuff said.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

That was the episode that turned me off to Voyager.

I sat and kept thinking: "How can they be so fucking stupid?!"

This just goes to show you that characters on TV are only as intelligent as the writers who make them work.

Er, I think that's the whole point of self-destruct.
