Debating at CW.org

If we're going on with the debate, here is the roster as I have it so far, please let me know who else is going to be included so I can send them the list and they can prepare (ie, lay land mines, pungee stakes, tripwires, serrated jaw-traps and other pleasantries on the 'balanced playing field')

2 Gladiators: WeeMadAndo and either Durandal or Verilon

5 Judges: Neoolong, Vympel, NecronLord, Coyote, Yogi

Judging criteria: 1-10 scale based on:
Effective use of Evidence
Clarity of Communication
Staying on Topic/Relevancy
Convincing
Civility

Anyone can coach or supply additional research as needed, but outside sources (books, articles, etc) must be accredited. No proof from "some guy's cousin I met at a party".

Any last additions? If not, I'll edit-copy-paste this after 24 hours or so...

How does the grading scale work in relation to a win? Is it just a straightforward addition of points?

Addition of points, simple and straightforward. I like the idea of posting the rationale behind points given.

ie, "Creationistall the way's entire post drifted off-topic from Creationism to Messianic Prophesy, so he only got 2 points out of ten for Topic..."

"On the other hand, Durandal called him a fucktard several times, so he only gets 3 out of 10 for Civility... (even though I think he deserved it)"

And so on.

These have to be posted publicly, not forwarded to any mods first. A post made here and copied there, and vice-versa. Naturally people will tend to vote in favor of their own board members, but things like Use of Evidence and Topicality will be easier for some (ahem, coughcough) while admittedly Civility may end up being a cornerstone of others...

The countdown for the final rules-arrangement has begun...

I am perfectly capable of being civil in a debate. It's not hard to simply destroy a YECer's claims with observed fact.

However, I should not be expected to retain civility when the board mod is abusing his power and trying to get the opposition's board shut down because we like to trash CW.Org over here. SBollinger is a fucking coward, and as far as I'm concerned, he should have absolutely no say in any of the debates, as he has demonstrated insane amounts of partiality, prejudice and bigotry.

Not to mention that I was banned with absolutely no warning at all, which according to the rules of CW.Org, I am entitled to.

I actually have no doubt about you guys being civil, but they're operating by Disney rules over there wehere anything worse than "Geewhilikers" put you on the short list to the Hell Express.

I was making an example, 'cause face it, most of the time arguing with a Fundamentalist believer is like stating an intent to commit suicide through artificially inflating your blood pressure.

I want them also to re-open your accounts, since of course that will be the way to get you guys back in there to debate. Now, if they won't do it, I'll be perfectly happy to go in myself, but while I can go pretty well with Old/New Testament and History/Archaeology questions, I'd need to lean heavily on coaches if things turn to Creation/Cosmology, and other hard sciences...

Or if Lord Wong decides to go in there after them after ReichMarshal Bollinger's insult, then...

Just fodder for them. They'll take your last line out of context, post it over there, try to use it against you, ban you from their forum for posting something over here, and then proceed to ask you to explain yourself.

What's your point? It doesn't matter why those people were banned and if they deserved it. It does matter that some new people were banned and that they didn't deserve it.

It does matter if the original people were banned and deserved it, because all the trouble stemmed from there. I'm just trying to work out what is happening.

If I set up a message board and set up the rules that say 'No supporters of Manchester United allowed' and then a group of people who are Manchester United supporters come from another MB, I will not look kindly on others from the same MB.

If anyone feels they have been banned when they should not have been, I will gladly help them get reinstated if they have a case.
