World News: Attack on Falluja Gets Under Way

'Americas' News: US Actor Howard Keel Dies at 85

What the hell is /wrong/ with the media when the news of a dead US actor is more important in relation to the American contintents than the US blitzting a city?

Remember when the pope visited Castro,it was one of the biggest news, but it was pushed aside fast by Monica Lewinsky,a blowjob was more important than a Catholic Religious leader visiting a Commie dictator.

who the fuck is Howard Keel?

and while we're on this, i have a rant.

Why the fuck is it that when some little known pullitzer prize winning journalist dies, it's almost always front page fucking news? Is there really anyone outside of the news media who gives a flying fuck? NO, there isn't! Hey, newspaper editor, you have a page for non-famous dead people. It's called the obituary.

Wouldn't the fact that it's in warld news mean they consider it more important than the stuff in americas?

The question is, why is it more important for the US to know that someone 90 percent of the populace have never heard of is dead than it is to know that the US military is staging a full-scale attack on a city that's been a firestorm every time they've poked it in the past? Priorities, people.

Ummm... Because the BBC's Americas section solely concerns news occuring in the Americas themselves, and would not usually include actions taken by the USA on the world stage?

I'd say it comes as one of the perks of being in journalism, that when you snuff it you can count on your mates to let everyone know in grand fashion that you are indeed really dead, even if they dont care. ;)
