And the next person appointed will certainly care about the US Constitution...

Yes. Let's see who he has in mind for a replacement, first.

Would he really retire if he thought his replacement was going to be any different from him?

I heard McCain suggest to Bush that Lieberman would make a good AG. If Bush has half a brain, he'll realize that this would be a great way to at least seem like he would like make some peace with the Democrats.

Ashcroft reportedly resigned because he had come to realize that he was no longer an asset to the Republican Party, or to the President's image. That must was revealed in the latest issue of TIME magazine. Interesting, really, given that he's been one of the exemplary "good soldiers" of the administration thus far.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Rumsfeld go myself, although I do like Condoleeza Rice.

Condi?! A female African-American Republican...she's the epitome of a contradiction! Granted, she's not as bas as Aschcroft or Rumsfeld, but still

I can't see how his replacment will be significantly better than he was, although I do have that feeling that Aschroft will come out of the closet sometime soon.

Oh for Christ's sake...could it be that Condi doesn't agree with the "victimhood" status that the Democratic Party loves to put on her people? The Dems would have us believe that no Black American can make it in this country without the government holding their hand. (Affirmative Action anyone?) Considering that Condi is one of the most well-educated people in the United States, I'm sure she finds that attitude insulting. I sure as hell would.

There's talk of Rudy Giuliani being up for the job. I'd be alright with that.

While yeah, I am a Democrat I don't believe that blacks can't make it without the government holding their hand. I don't believe anyone should be forced into victim status either. What I don't get about her is how she can stand by a party that doesn't respect women's rights.

Some women are pro-life. I haven't heard her opinion on the subject. I'm pro-choice myself.
