Canon evidence of multiple lightsabre power settings?

A Jedi has some type of connection to the lightsabre they build. Could that connection have an effect on the power setting? That look on Qui-gon's face could have been concentration as he manipulated the intensity of the beam in order to melt that point of the door. And in a fight, it's not neccessary - the blade will cut at normal intensity. ??

Aren't some of the knobs on Vader's lightsaber used to adjust the blade length?

Yeah, I meant to mention that as well. To those who don't know, it was said in the AOTC audio commentary that when Anakin sliced those two deadly worms in Padmé's bedroom, the CGI people extended his sabre by a couple of inches, since Hayden had to not hit Portman's neck for the shot to work.

That means that multi length sabres are canon as well.

Okay, so here's the settings so far:

Cut (Ponda Boba, Taun Taun)
Cauterized Cut (much of AOTC, TPM, various people's hands/arms)
Melt (TPM blast door)
Burn (ROTJ, Obi-Wan in AOTC)
Viagra (Anakin's slashing at "caterpillars" in his girlfriend's bed)

There may be other light settings, for the Younglings while training, and those used for shaving for the busy Jedi on the go (see Jedi Knight/Mysteries of the Sith). ; )
