Would you vote for Hilary?

Post by Captain Kruger »

Hilary Clinton in 2008...don't be surprised if she's on the ticket. Gathering special interest support is the American Way, and there are millions of women in this country who would automatically vote for anything with a pair of breasts regardless of her politics. The Democrats are well aware of this. Plus, she's one of the most easily recognizable faces in politics. Not to mention that if Bush pushes too much of a conservative agenda, the seething anti-Republican hatefest bloc will be even bigger than it is now.

So...who would vote for her? Definitely not me. The extremist Democrats have a bad habit of trying to keep as much of the population as they can dependent on government services with no hope of financial freedom anytime in the future. I think Hilary would tow that line without a second thought.

The question stands for non-Americans too if you have an opinion on the subject.

I've never heard any real arguments against Hilarily except "She's a Clinton" and some vague nonsense about secret Democratic conspiracies to reduce everyone to dependence on welfare. Until I hear more solid arguments, I suppose I'd vote for her.

Of course, it really depends on who she's running against. If she's running against, say, McCain, no. If she were running against the equilavelent of Bush or Cheney, or some random Republican drone, yes.

She's an opportunistic pantload hypocrite. The only way i vote Hillary is if she runs against some assclown like Pat Robertson.

'Tis true. I guess that would shitcan Condoleeza Rice's chances.

I'm not so sure about that. Even if there's a moderate, decent male Democrat who wants the job, the party might push for her anyway because of the gender thing.

The Repubs have been repeating "President Hillary!!!1!1 ZOMG" as a mantra since 1992. I won't believe it until I see it.

I don't see what the big fucking deal is about Republicans and Hilary Clinton anyway. According to them, she's the most evil woman alive, and I have no idea why.

I think it's good old fashioned wet pants fear. American women usually tend to vote Democrat anyway, save for those in the Bible Belt. I think a lot of Republicans think that a female Democratic candidate with the name recognition of Hilary would wipe the floor with their asses given the opportunity.

I would imagine those would be the slightly-less-than-sharp suburban moms who were frightened by terror alerts and duct tape, and probably includes some of the extra fundie turn-out as well.

49% voted for someone who has made it crystal clear that he would love the opportunity to overturn Roe vs. Wade. You're right; that is a bit stunning. If anything, I'd say it's a big black mark against Kerry rather than a lasting turnaround in the female population.

Most of these "less than sharp suburban mom's" are college educated career women, or were at one point. You kinda have to be to afford the house in the suburbs, and the fancy SUV. When you get married and have children your priorities change. The maternal (and paternal) instinct to protect your children is a strong one.

[panicked and shaking suburban mom] "Kerry won't keep my babies from getting blown up!" [/panicked and shaking suburban mom]

Funny thing is, if you switch the subject from terrorism to Iraq, a lot of other suburban moms probably said that same sentence, replacing Kerry with Bush.

I've never really understood the whole anti-Hilary thing from both side's point of view. Could someone actually make a case against her instead of making vauge comments and "oh...hyprocrit" :?:

It seems like Republicans hate her because she is a Clinton and other's hate her because she's ambitious.

Much abliddged.

Its highly unlikely that Hillary would get the Dem's nomination as she has very little actual experience as a politician. Not to mention the fact that this country is no where near ready to even consider electing a female president.

As for if I would vote for her (if by some odd chance I was actually forced to choose whether or not to vote for her), it would really depend on who was running against her. It would likely be another pick the lesser of two evils and pray that I was right.

As long as she's a competent leader and not being picked for the job just because of her anatomy, I don't see a problem with a lady prez. Then again, most of the men aren't competent leaders anyway. :?

Our latest election was a sleepwalking mope with no agenda against a Bible-beating crusader. Wonderful choice. Ah, the sad state of American politics...

I would be extremely reluctant to vote for Hillary. I would be probably more supportive of her efforts if her husband wasn't an ex-President already. I think that dynamic in the administration would be....weird. Hillary would be in constant fear of being politically upstaged by Bill. What happens if some democrats get frustrated with Hillary, and appeal to Bill for support? Bill is practically a rock star to democrats, and I think it would be awful tempting for dems to want Bill to be placed in a prominent role for a Hillary administration. I think the whole dynamic would be an annoying political side show, and could really distract Hillary if it gets to be problematic.

Vote for Hitlery Clinton? Ah, no.
Disagree with too many of her positions on foreign policy, drugs, gun control, trade, and various other issues. She'd have to go up against a complete nutter like Ann Coulter for me to even begin considering voting for her.

Republicans regard Hilary as the Democratic Ann Coulter. That level of virulent hatred. She's a flaming unabashed quasi-socialist liberal, with none of the charm or charisma of her husband.
