Anyone see tonight's Enterprise? It seemed like it was going to be half-decent, but then...ugh.

You believed in such a thing as a half-decent episode of ANYTHING B&B are in charge of? What have you been smoking?

I agree. I think the end did not make sense since phase pistols have a stun setting. I guess the writers forgot about that.Cyril wrote:Anyone see tonight's Enterprise? It seemed like it was going to be half-decent, but then...ugh.

er phase pistols do come with stun settings, unlike the TNG phasers which came with 50 settings from rockheating to ticklish to blowing up whole planets.paladin wrote:I agree. B&B, I guess, has gone from making bad TV to making bad TV with facist morale messages included...

I thought Archer was telling T'Pol to do the same thing cops get paid to do. Her job was to follow an arrest warrant that looks to have been accurate. The guy was smuggling toxins used to make biogenic weapons.
I thought it was nice that T'Pol was questioning her own actions and the honesty of her government. It was also nice to see the Vulcans were at least partially right. I was getting a little tired of the Vulcans always being duplicitous.

I agree that in the end Archer's decision was right, even if it turned out that the wanted man did not have any biological agents with him. T'Pol was tasked with bringing back a suspected criminal. She, being in the Vulcan Military, had to follow her orders. There is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes it is necessary to follow the orders of your government even if it conflicts with your personal viewpoints. Soldiers take an oath to follow the orders of their superiors. If someone can't do that they shouldn't stay in their nation's military. Someone has to do the tough jobs. If this were a "clear" case of following criminal order, such as massacring innocent civilians, a soldier does not have to follow such orders. In this case, T'Pol received a mission that was legitimate.Tsyroc wrote:I thought Archer was telling T'Pol to do the same thing cops get paid to do. Overall, this episode was not as bad as other Enterprise episodes, like Mauraders...

I put on Terminator 2 after about five minutes of that crap.

Perhaps, but I get sick and tired of Archer always being right, time after time. I think it would have made a much better ending if it turned out that the man really was innocent and that Archer was wrong.

There was evidence that the guy was guilty, so they took him into custody. Exactly what they should have done.

Now now, we can't fault him or Bozo and Binhead for doing their patriotic duty to strengthen public support for Asscroft's anti-civil rights policies. Seriously. In the current political climate, if B&B dared to support the trial-before-execution model, Enterprise would be slammed as unpatriotic or 'commie liberal fascist propaganda.'Patrick Degan wrote:Well, what a good little fascist is our Archer.

All I saw in that episode was Archer making T'pol follow her orders. I see nothing wrong with that.

Well, vulcans don't act very pacifistic in Enterprise. They also have a High Command, which sounds military in nature to me. I could be wrong though.Dargos wrote:Commander LeoRo wrote: ....T'Pol was tasked with bringing back a suspected criminal. She, being in the Vulcan Military, had to follow her orders...
Wait a minute...since when does Vulcan HAVE a military...I thought Vulcan was a pacifist planet?!?!

But that wasn't the point of the episode. If the man was innocent, Archer wouldn't have been *wrong*. Archer wasn't saying the man was guilty. He was telling T'Pol, that as a member of whatever vulcan organization she was under, it was her duity to arrest this man.Cyril wrote:Perhaps, but I get sick and tired of Archer always being right, time after time. The man was playing on T'Pol's emotions: that it would be *her* fault for ruining his life, that the vulcans would treat him unfairly, that it was her duity to judge him and take responsibility for his future treatment... its not how police are supposed to act. We've already seen that T'Pol is a little more "human" than a typical Vulcan. As a Vulcan, T'Pol can't deal with the emotions this arrest (and the previous killing) brought up. All Archer was doing was telling T'Pol how to deal with the emotion and do her duity, which was to arrest the guy regardless of wether or not she or Archer thinks he's guilty.

This is a good explanation. The episode has given me more doubts as to T'Pol's stability.
