Neither does he. Nor do you. But if it's a bomber, as it apparently is, I'll wager that it's not the most maneuverable thing out there.

Bah. It reminds me of the Il-2 Sturmovik, so it gets automatic Vympel-points.

Take some thorazine and calm the fuck down.

Anyway:

Extrinsically (and maybe intrinsically): Its a fucking easter egg and is barely visible; it doesn't count.

Really Intrinsically: From pure SoD, ILM insider info does not fit into analysis and it is impossible to visually identify with certainty that those should be three TIEs and a X-Wing. So you can explain them away as speeders with some vaguely similar silhouettes and otherwise ignore it.

Vympel-points? Are those anything like People's Hero Points?

If there are to be any easter eggs, they'd be fighters people are familiar with. No one but a giggling fanboy will notice/understand if a Z-95 or Victory-class shows up in the background.

Well, there was also the Action VI transport landing at Naboo in AotC.

Karrde's ship, right?

Yeah. And it's not just giggling fanboys who recognize the Z-95 and Victory class. If we were talking about putting in Toscan fighters or something, I'd see your point. :P

Yeah, Wild Karrde was an Action VI-class.

To recognize either, the person would have had to play one of the X-Wing games frequently or own the pertinant Essential Guide and know it cover to cover. Fanboy. :P

Not really. They'd just have to have an average-level memory.

Then ask the average person who's only seen SW what a Victory Class cruiser or Z-95 is.

They don't...they only recognize what is in the original films and what of it vaguely.

Even a good many fans who only like the films and a few books may have no knowledge. Regardless of how one wants to put it. It is a certain in depth knowledge to discern one wedged shape ship above another.

Still searching, though, I thought I saw it just a few days ago.

Found a pic:

In the red circle, a T shaped craft (seen from above) and three TIEs.

Yeah, I know, got a bit dissappointed myself, they´re like dots for God´s sake!

But that´s also part of the premise for this thread, they´re so small you can interpret what they are more easily. And, yes, I am aware that "they could just be speeders" is a viable in-universe explanation. I just like mine better, cus it incorporates a bit of EU and remains true to established continuity.

It´s in AOTC, pulling in to the spaceport outside of Theed, when the transport with Anakin and Padme arrive. On the right side of the screen. And it´s an Action VI ship, not necessarily Karrde´s. Just like the YT-2400 freighter in ANH isn´t necessarily The Outrider.

erm, aren't easter eggs usualy included for giggling fanboys? Doesn't one have to be a fanboy in order to go through the movie frame by frame looking for dots that they can interpret different ways and use to argue cannon? While I would be inclined to think they were intended as an x and ties, you can't dismiss an argument over an easter egg as being delivered by a fan-boy, since you have to be a fanboy to care one way or the other. The realy sad thing is that this was just a little joke from ILM intended to reward fans with a sharp eye, instead we sit here arguing over continuity and ship makes.

I'm sure this is some spoiler crap, but what's the difference between a TIE and a "T.I.E."?

Doesn't TIE stand for "Twin Ion Engine" already?

Apparantly, T.I.E. was the designation of the first generation of TIE fighters, made by the Old Republic. The next two generations (Imperial TIE and TIE/ln) cut out the '.' for some reason.

If you read the title and my opening post this was just meant to be a half-serious thread. And I yes, I do know it´s just a joke ILM put in, I´m merely entertaining the notion that it can be explained "in-universe".

And I´m not giggling. :P

In universe there can be only one explanation...

TIME TRAVEL!

Yes, Vaser and his escorts somehow chased Luke back in time during one of the moments they weren't onscreen! Wormholes and tacheons for everyone!

Don't worry, Daniels fixed everything in the end, but not before Scott Bakula reprised his role from Quantum Leap as Luke and lead them back to where they were supposed to be. ; )
