When you have people who think that "support the military" means "keep giving them more money without asking where it goes", this is what you get.

Kidding? The US gov't doesn't kid. This is the same gov't that allowed millions in taxpayers cash and years of study to go into remote viewing programmes for the CIA only because the Soviets were looking into it too (and gave up far earlier than the US).
Surprise, surprise, nothing came of the research other than some quacks who felt it was too secret to reveal their Über Psychic Powers.

Is it amusing or scarry that they opened the article saying Trekkies will be happy about this?

I think some of this board's heavyweights should consider applying for research grants on turbolasers, lightsabers and repulsorlifts. Psychic teleportation makes them seem downright plausible by comparison.
One must wonder, though: How much does it cost to research anything psychic? It's a people sitting there with strained expressions on their face.
Not working?

You should try listening to "Coast to Coast AM" with Art Bell sometime and his endless stream of guests claiming to have worked with the CIA and NSA to use Physic Projection for intelligence gathering...oh wait, this joke just back fired

Try this: Brain in a dish flies plane
I posted this in SLAM some time ago. And this is far from the first time the US has pissed away military dollars. During the UFO crazy the military built and designed their very own flying saucer, just to discover--surprise, surprise--that a disk is not a very good shape for an aircraft.Julhelm wrote:Try this: Brain in a dish flies plane

Yes, but if P-T works, imagine the range you can get on your missiles...

Oil an emergency?! It's about time, Brigadier, that the leaders of this planet of yours realised that to remain dependent upon a mineral slime simply doesn't make sense.

For all I know, Canada made one, too, but I distinctly recall watching a video of this saucer, covered in pictures of the US flag, flying (predicatly) very poorly. The thing could only stay up in the air for a few seconds at a time. I think the Wright bros. plane could've outdone it.Julhelm wrote:I thought that saucer was canadian.
