Well would't that suggest that Mediclorines Are needed "to hear the force",the mediclorines might not be the Creators of the Force but that dosen't really matter since without Mediclorines all you have is a Dud Phoneline.

I floated my personal theory that life creates the force and makes it grow, so Vader's cybernetics acts as a sort of interference that doesn't let the force flow as easily. GL stated that the cybernetics were the key to his loss of power, not his injuries or any other status. From that I take it that cybernetics may act as a sort of buffer between you and the flow of the Force.

Let's not even get into the sticky debate of just why such an advanced culture doesn't allow the cloning of limbs and such. The whole "It's bad because of the clone wars" really stretches that quite a bit in my opinion. Anakin's arm is lost before the cloning ban issue comes to the fore and he gets a crappy terminator looking arm.Kurgan wrote:No need for that, just get a DNA sample and clone away...

Again I repeat my view that Lucas is like an abusive father. His series should be taken away and given to a foster parent like Timothy Zhan to end the abuse.

Well as far as i know the Mediclorins live in symbiose withinn their Host's bodies,so for all we know the mediclorins may be so alien in nature that they Haven't got any dna at all.
They might Might migrate to Feetis in the womb and colonize that during pregnacy, the more receptable the Ofspring is the higher number of Mediclorins will reproduce and then wander to the new host.
For all we know this might only happen in the early stages of pregancy and the rest of the time the Mediclorins can't reproduce.
(This is totally un-founded speculation)

Just out of curiousiy, having recently bought the DVDs, (The more expensive gold-boxed version here, so it should have everything) whereabouts are these wacked out comments by Lucas?

Got it.
"The Emperor wants luke to kill Vader so that he will have a new young jedi. Y'know, let's face it, Darth Vader's half mechanical, he's not nearly as good as he could be. He's not nearly as good as he [Palpatine] was hoping Anakin would become, because he ends up in this confrontation that puts him in that suit, so he's hoping to get a new better young apprentice in Luke. And if he kills his father, he would take his [Vader's] place as his Apprentice."
The more this guy talks, the less I enjoy these films. Y'know what's really bad? He talks about fathers and sons confronting the same issues in Episode III. Is Dooku meant to be Anakin's father now?

When Luke is dueling Vader in ROTJ, specifically when he kicks Vader off the stairs GL goes into his idea that Vader is weaker and will never achieve his potential because of his nature as half machine.NecronLord wrote:Just out of curiousiy, having recently bought the DVDs, (The more expensive gold-boxed version here, so it should have everything) whereabouts are these wacked out comments by Lucas?
Also listen to the commentary in ANH during the infamous Motti scene. GL states that Vader has been reduced to bickering with beaurcrats, an equal among the various henchmen of the Emperor, a tragic figure for a man that wanted to be the most powerful Jedi ever.

Obi Wan is obviously Anakin's father figure. In the ROTS it will most likely show Obi Wan trying to get Anakin to turn back but will not be as convincing as Luke. Or perhaps it is that final chance for Anakin to return. He blew it with Obi Wan and Luke represents that very last chance at redemption.NecronLord wrote:

Either way Anakin/Obi Wan is the Luke/Vader of the prequels.

How the fuck does he think Vader is going to run an empire without fucking warlords? Hell, one of the Admirals explicitly states that these guys aren't the Imperial Bureaucrats. GAAARGGHHH!!!!!

Father figure yes. But it's kinda inhabited by the fact that Vader doesn't kill Obi Wan in episode III, and the setup of the Dooku-Anakin fight is clearly meant to resemble the Luke-Vader fight.Stravo wrote:Obi Wan is obviously Anakin's father figure. The Duality should be in Anakin choosing to kill the former apprentice, and Luke refusing.

Yes that's what I always suspected. But I've been trying desperately to remain spoiler free for this one unlike the first two which I feel I may have not enjoyed as much because I did know what was coming so I'm blissfully unaware of what the set up for that one will be.NecronLord wrote:

Wonderful. Anakin died before becoming Vader in the gospel according to Lucas. Guess that silly Dark Side personality disorder theory is now held by Lucas.

I think that point will be made with the yellow eyes on Anakin as per the trailer and the line "You don't know the power of the Darkside. I must obey." may indicate a certain slave like mentality to Palpatine. Perhaps Palpy discovered a Dark side power that allows him to control his Apprentices much like he Force coordinates his Empire.

Also absolves Vader from any responsibility for his actions. Nice that, eh?Stravo wrote:Guess Obi Wan wasn't THAT much of a lying scumbag when he pulled his certain point of view crap eh?

I think as GL has aged his attitudes have changed in characterization. Where before he was comfortable with crafting a charcater that was almost iredeemably evil now as he writes these prequels he's having issues writing him as evil. I mean the slaughtering the Tuskens was the only character development bit that showed any sort of evil inclination in Anakin. TPM was an utetr waste as there was ZERO charcater development for Anakin whose lines consisted of "Yippe." "Now this is pod racing." "Master, what are Midichlorians?" UGH.NecronLord wrote:Also absolves Vader from any responsibility for his actions. So all the evil of Vader must be shown in 2 hours of film? The slave mentality thing helps him explain why you should like Vader anyway and why he fell so far so fast. Seriously how do you show Anakin descending to the point of killing his fellow Jedi in a matter of 1.5 hours of screen time.
Poor GL doesn't seem to get that we LIKE these evil streaks in his characters as his painful abortion of the Greedo shooting first stuff shows, he just doesn't care or get it.

A three minute montage of Palpatine, in different clothes every shot, talking about how the Jedi betrayed him, let his mother down, banned his love, etc etc etc would do nicely.Stravo wrote:Seriously how do you show Anakin descending to the point of killing his fellow Jedi in a matter of 1.5 hours of screen time.

Doesn't fit GL's style, we didn't see a single montage in any of the movies. It's going to be something slightly cheesy IMO, a single decision that drives him over the edge. Sad though, because there was so much to do in terms of character development for him that we didn't see in the prequels, certainly not Luke level character development. All we've gottne is whiney Ani with one throw away scene of wanton slaughter Ani, then back to whiney Ani.

Actually what sad Stravo, is that he deleted one scene in TPM...that while would not have redeemed anything. It would've been nice. Anakin going apeshit over the accusation of cheating.
In that particular dismal pile...I would've liked if that scene stayed since he asks Qui-Gon...what's wrong with getting mad.
Then we have so little done in AoTC. Sorry the slaughter of Tuskens is not a particular bright point...but afterwards he seems that it's just an afterthought.
This movie now will have to have him somehow go from Obi Wan's bud to Monster...and we'll have to believe it.
An immensely tall order.

Meh. I was thinking of the way it was done in one of the Othello screenplays I was watching a few years back. You could break it up quite a bit by splicing it with mini-narratives of Anakin and Obi-wan's heroism in the Clone Wars. There's got to be a reason General Kenobi is such hot shit that the rebellion needs him.Ghost Rider wrote:I hate you.NecronLord wrote:A three minute montage of Palpatine, in different clothes every shot, talking about how the Jedi betrayed him, let his mother down, banned his love, etc etc etc would do nicely.Stravo wrote:Seriously how do you show Anakin descending to the point of killing his fellow Jedi in a matter of 1.5 hours of screen time.
