Bummer, I was hoping this would give some new life to the debate!

Maybe in a couple of years...

Oh well. One thing on the site got me though.

It is being claimed that in the novelisation (of ESB) that the asteroid/bridge tower impact sheared off the bridge tower and destroyed the whole ship.

In the movie the results are inconclusive (via the new DVD's). Not having read the novel in years, can anyone confirm or deny his claim?

I know how people feel about the matter in regards to the films, but does the novel actually say what he claims it says? (bridge tower torn off, ISD destroyed)

Newland keeps quoting this page claiming 10 gigaton phasers. Ridiculous, but the page still claims 910 megaton minimum for phasers.
Did they take this page down, or am I the only person who gets a 404 when I go to this URL?

In any case, did the author of the page take into account the fact that in a low pressure environment (like space) ice will sublime directly into vapor at much lower temperatures than it would take to vaporize ice under normal Earth temperatures and pressures?

In the novelization, it wasn't specified what type of vessel was destroyed only that it was a smaller vessel.
He was staring through the large rectangular window above the deck at the raging field of asteroids that was pelting his ship as it glided through space. Hundreds of rocks streaked past the windows. Some collided with one another and exploded in brilliant displays of vivid light.

As Vader watched, one of his smaller ships disintegrated under the impact of an enormous asteroid.
The extra passage was included just in case anyone still doubts the asteroid field's violence or that it was hitting the ship. Now, this is where I come in useful.

This is disturbing...
The Argumentative Repository of The Furry Conflict provides a forum for the academic and semi-academic hypotheses, arguments, points and debates for those interested in the "versus" school of Star Trek and Star Wars.
At present, I see four articles.
Sublight Engine Performance USS Enterprise: Solar System Exit Analysis October 28, 2003 Marc Xavier
Sublight Engine Performance USS Jenolan: Dyson Sphere Rescue Analysis October 28, 2003 Marc Xavier
Sublight Engine Performance USS Enterprise-E: Warp Flight Chase Analysis October 28, 2003 Marc Xavier
General Starship Resiliency
Imperator-class Star Destroyer: Asteroid Collision Analysis September 19, 2003 G2k
Maybe they need some additional articles for their "Argumentative Repository". I wonder if they've been warned against accepting articles from "Rabid Warsies".

The guy who's saying the good guys always win; tell him this:
This is Star Trek vs Star Wars. Therefore, the Federation will ALSO have to face Luke Skywalker. Who, of course, always wins, and with FAR less losses and without needing the help of godlike beings (Prophets) either ;)

We took it down. That was an incompleted page that didnt even have a public link. I don't know how he got ahold of it.

This section of the site has been open for well over a year, and accepts submissions from everyone, including "Rabid Warsies." We've just not recieved any submissions from the other side of the spectrum.

In any event, that portion of the site is slated for deletion (at least from TFC).

Correction. As I recall someone from this site did express interest in posting an article, I believe it was Ossus, but the material that he gave us (no offense to Ossus) was basically just a few lines with little explanation or calculation. Barely enough to construct an article.

It was me. Honestly, I didn't particularly care that much. If DS wants to have his way with TFC, then he's welcome to, as far as I'm concerned.

Somebody have the ANH novelization handy? Can you please look up the quote where the stormtroopers blew their own door through a wall to allow for better movement?

From I have, the novelization only says that the stormtroopers blasted a gaping hole in the door. You do mean the detention cell fight, right?
Luke and Leia had started back up the corridor when a series of blinding explosions ripped the walkway ahead of them. Several troopers had tried coming through the elevator, only to be crisped one after another by Chewbacca. Disdaining the elevators, they had blown a gaping hole through a wall. The opening was too large for Solo and the Wookiee to cover completely. In twos and threes, the Imperials were working their way into the detention block.

Ossus, you'll want this quote, too:

pg.118: Turning his pistol to maximum and hoping it wouldn't melt in his hand before it broke through, he opened fire on the door. When the weapon became too hot to hold, he tossed it from hand to hand. As he did so the smoke had time to clear, and he saw with some surprise that the door had been blown away.

I hear what you're saying, well sort of, I don't have the urge to kill. Their whole, "stick our fingers in our ears, and scream that the EU doesn't count" is highly annoying.

Ah, you're right, dude! Thanks for the reminder:

pg.68: The metal door which began moving aside was as thick as her body--as if, she mused bitterly, they were afraid she might break through anything less massive with her bare hands.
