Ok, I honestly don't get this. I'm hardly a scientist. I'm not in college and when I go, I have no intention of studying science or math beyond that which I'm required to take to be a music major. I'm a decently intelligent guy, but I'm no mental juggernaught. But I can see a picture and I passed my high school math and science classes. There is no possible conclusion beyond the Empire kicks the Federation's ass no matter how you look at it. It's not exactly all that complicated.

I agree with that statement 100%. He makes a thread about a subject, we disprove him, then in the next thread he says to look at the other thread about why he's right.

Yup. That's what they're claiming.

Plus the guy just doesn't get a chain reaction. He thinks that if a phaser will cause a chain reaction that totals over a gigaton in ice, it will do the same thing against a Star Destroyer. He doesn't get the match-to-a-forest analogy

They think phasers are 10 gigatons and photons are 100 megatons. Even though we've shot both down, Newland runs to another thread and claims it again.

That's ridiculous. Your personal preference of what to watch and what is more enjoyable should have nothing to do with debating. I like watching Star Trek more than Star Wars for the simple fact that I grow tired of the epic good versus evil black and white space fantasy genre. A few exploding consoles here and there isn't going to turn me off Trek. There are only so many times you can watch Wars before you grow bored, and Trek has hundreds of hours.

"Trekkie" means something very specific -- a nerd who dresses up like Spock and goes to Star Trek cons. What the hell does it mean to some people, I don't know. If you want to diss people who think that Trek will win, don't use the word Trekkie. It insults the real Trekkies.

Where the hell did "Warsie" come from.

Trekkie was used as an insult against exactly the sort of folk Trekkie means: A fanatic whose completely out of touch with the real world. Of course, this upset the Trekkies, so they made up 'Warsie'. What's really pathetic is that if you used the terms in the wide world, no one would know what 'Warsie' meant. But everyone would know what 'Trekkie' meant.

When we felt like being civilized, ASVS referred to the debators as 'Pro Trek' and 'Pro Wars'. Of course, we rarely felt civilized.
