According to the EU a lot of Sith were actually rogue Jedi. And it doesn't matter if you call your dueling style Form II or Applied Dominance. Both are force using, lightsaber wielding, practitioners of closely related traditions (the other side of each other's coin). Similarities are inevitable. The attitudes and goals of the Sith (i.e. kill Jedi as oppossed to maintain peac and order throughout the galaxy) are what is going to determine the differences in fighting styles.

Is the Terry Brooks novel C-Level or G-Level canon? Or are parts of it G (Lucas's original story elements) and parts C (Brook's embellishments)?

Because in the TPM novelisation, it says the original Sith were Rogue Jedi. The AOTC novelisation doesn't say that the "lost 20" are Sith, but one of those, Count Dooku, ends up being one.

So far of the Sith revealed in the films, we have an equal number of ex-Jedi and "pure Sith," Palpy & Maul vs. Anakin & Dooku.

Sith history goes like this:

One day a really long time ago a bunch of rogue Jedi went off into the dark and found a planet inhabited by a people called the Sith, who were ruled by dark side users. The rogue Jedi conquered them using their fancy tech and Jedi skills and became the Dark Lords of the Sith. They added Sith knowledge to their own skills and founded Sith Empire.

Sith Empire and Republic meet and eventually the Sith Empire is destroyed. The Sith Order is refounded several times by rogue Jedi who rediscover and use Sith techniques. After the last Sith order is smashed 2,000 years ago, the survivor adopts the rule of two. Jedi are great recruits for the Sith because they already have all that useful training.
