Ireland, best place to live on the planet

While I certainly agree in regards to Australia, Iceland is in Europe in the same sense Ireland is.

Its also near as far away from Mainland Europe as the Middle East not to mention it has tight ties with the US(Can't put bombers there if they don't like us after all)

It's NATO, hence the bases. You also have a base in Azores, which are quite far from Europe, and are still considered European. It's not like as there's any ME country member of the European Free Trade Association, and more than likely future member of the EU.

We don't have any nuclear power though, and an irrational fear of it only compounds the problem. I wish we didn't have cheap coal either.

I've only ever been to Freemantle in Western Australia and that's been awhile. I will say that based on my experences there your country is very nice and pleasantly overstocked with attractive women.

What's funny though is that when I was in Freemantle I went to some croc zoo and then 10-15 years later whats the big thing to hit the US from out of Australia? Yep, it's everyone's favorite Crocidile Hunter.

The only thing that was a little surprsing being in Freemantle was that people can and do smoke just about anywhere. If was like a flashback to a few decades ago in the US in that regard.

It's like that outside of the capital cities. No-one really cares, and complaining gets you in immense amounts of crap.

Well having lived in Galway, Ireland for a year I must say it is a great place to live. Little pollution, crime and great scenery.

I wish we didn't have cheap coal either.

We use natural gas here. For pretty much everything. they're replacing our old buses with gas-run buses.

Of course, we wouldn't have to worry so much about buses if someone several decades ago hadn't decided that tramlines were ugly then proceded to pull out every tram line except for one.

well, that was a while ago. Things have changed a bit. Plus, you were in Fremantle, and unless my footy knowlede has failed me (and I know it hasn't), that's the docklands... possibly not the classiest area.

True, that's mostly where I was. In particular the main building attached to the docks. People were smoking all over the place, not just the "lounge".
