Written on the fly. The inspiration is nothing that would make logical sense, so don't worry too much. And if you can find meaning in this thing, that's more than I did.

[Infinity Screams]

Stars burn,
Planets spin,
Worlds collide.

Infinity screams.

Babies cry,
Friends laugh,
Begingings begin.

Infinity screams.

Echos in my ear,
From so far away,
Speak of fear and guilt.

Infinity screams.

Worlds collide,
Shadows creep,
Fear rises.

Infinity screams.

No one hears,
With their minds or ears,
No one hears,

When infinity screams.

NecronLord wrote:Books by NecronLord (this one is far less formal)

Bound in creaking leather
Thick tomes of hate

Terrible ignorance, and intolerance
If thy wife speaks-

Beat Her
For that is her fate

With hard Spines
Thick Tomes of Spite

Evil abounds in many forms
Though what is evil and what is good?

War is Good
If it is commanded by a deity
Murder is Good
As long as they aren't from my tribe
Hate is Strength
When it is righteous wrath

Slay the infidel
Cast down his altars
Pillage his lands.

Contined in books
Bound in creaking leather
Thick tomes of hate

Books of Worship?
Or
Books of Hate
I think I like this one, NL. Very strong messages, and very good.

I think I'll write one inspired by verilon.

Insomniac

The insomniac is of night and day
Tireless, but vague this may be
Time passes in bursts for him,
Perhaps one moment awake, another not.

A virtue to him it seems to be
But to flee from the comforting embrace of
sleep, and to toy closer to sleep everlasting,
Is this wisdom we see? What wisdom can be found?

Proud and tall you stay awake
Sleep at your feet, begging you to join with her,
You scoff at her pleads and wave her away
And with tired eyes that profess unwavering vigilance,
You face night and day as one.

The Fire

Why?
Why, oh why must they be so?
The house trembles under the force
of their unnecessary anger,
And I do not see where they are trying to go to.

One, bristling with pugilistic fire
Is it really that delightful to wage conflict?
To make low the feelings of us all while you,
You spill more oil to that fire, making it rage
Rage, rage, rage
What kind of delight do you take from doing so?

And the other, where is the looking out
before taking the step?
You tell us caution, yet where is your caution?
Do not fuel the other's fire,
And most of all, steady your own.

The two of you, burning pyres of fury that
make the rest of us feel low and tiny,
Reducing us to mice hiding in their holes,
Fearful of danger from above and outside
Restraint, when did you cast this away?
Or consideration, why did you dispose of it?

You two fuel fire without feeling its heat
The rest of us feel it, and are pained by it
But you two do not seem to see us in our misery.

----------------------------------

This is dedicated to those who, during their childhood, have had to stay in their rooms listening to their parents argue for so long, and feeling small and even frightened perhaps. This poem's for you.
What's her bust size!?

Honestly, it's because you TRY to write it. I can't speak for Shinova or weemadando, but as for myself, I find it just comes to me, and I put it on the paper...there's really nothing to it. I personally can't stand reading poetry, for the most part, but enjoy the way it feels to write it. Poetry is not something you should look for in yourself; let it flow, let it breathe from your hand, a lot like the way a fic will, sometimes. You can't force poetry, it is beautiful only when it blooms by itself.

Strangley enough, I tend to be poetic in the stupidest things, such as that, or a recent conversation I had with Stormy via AIM....

If you can make poetry, it's because it comes like inspiration. I've never heard of anyone sitting and thinking along a formula and making a poem. It sounds crazy, and yes, it does produce crazy results(The incomprehensible poem on Page 2, for example).

Lovely thread derailing! Anyways, we had a conversation, and were asking questions about each other (a lot I won't remember unless a question is asked about a praticular question), and he asked me what I look for in a guy. I told him, but it was incredibly poem-like. Unfortunately, I did not save it as I wanted to (because I wanted to put it in my LJ)....-_-;;

As far as the poetry thing, poetry can be inspired by the littlest things...a leaf falling, a cat meowing, the garble of a creek...you can go look for inspiration, but ultimately it will find you. Mine happen to rhyme a lot, but I attribute that to a lot of Dr. Seuss as a kid. That Poem 5A was inspired by life itself. It is the way the world is, and that's all there is to it.

You'd be amazed how much inspiration you can draw out of a 2 Liter bottle of coke and a dozen pixie sticks.

Granted, it was not my best work.

I wrote a little poetry, but my stuff sounds like 'Little Orphan Annie' and 'the Goblins'll getcha if ya don't watch out' and other spooky kiddy rhymes. What can I say? While normal kids were getting read Curious George, I was read the really dysfunctional stuff: Dr. Seuss and Where the Wild Things Are and one other that I just can't remember but always scared the shit out of me.

You have no idea...in fact, I am writing a Cello Duet inspired by some guitar music. It will, naturally, sound nothing like it, but like I said, the simplest things will inspire you.

And SirNitram: An entire chapter of my fic was inspired by my roommate's cat climbing on the window. :?

Lag: I did the same thing. Like I said, a lot of my poetry tends to rhyme. Not all of it, but most of it.

Little Billy didn't eat his corn; he yelled and made a scene.
His parents sent him up to bed and he called out, "You're mean"!
His parents said, "Now Billy dear, you really shouldn't fuss."
"For kids who do not eat their corn meet up with Gibbleguss."
"He's a horrible grey monster." said his mother with a tear.
"He eats young kids and keeps their bones and leaves behind the ears."
But Billy laughed and stamped his feet and ran away to hide.
His parents searched around and couldn't find him when they tried.
And all that's left of Billy now turned up on the next morn;
A pair of ears left tucked inside his unfinished bowl of corn.

Poetry isn't hard. The simple, children's rhymes anyway. Just pick a short story with a moral, an ironic twist, or whatever, and make it rhyme and flow in a rhythm.

Even a dirty set of rhyming sentences is a poem:

Mary Bellons was a thief, sent to prison by the court.
Mary Bellons winked at George the Guard and said he was her sort.
George the Guard then made a deal with dear old Mary Bellons.
He said that he would let her out if he could touch her melons.

Okay, it's not easy to do imagery-filled, metaphorical poetry. I'm not capable of hidden meaning and flow, bizzare imagery and the like which shows off the hidden textual face of human emotion. I write short rhyming stories about kid-eating ghoulies and women with large boobs.

You write limericks.
