Post your Desktops (Nov. 2004 Edition)

Post by Dalton »

Been a bit since we had one of these, and Mr. Smiley kindly reminded me of that with his nifty Sluggy desktop. So, another thread, submitted for your approval, of shameless bragging

Here's me. 1280x1024, 108KB.

Our desktop is this picture sized to fit the screen. It's a pic of our daughter. In case nobody recognized her from my avatar.

Ok what is it with everyone having neat looking desktops, how come everyone is so organized? Our desktop has too many icons on it as you can see in the background picture of our desktop picture.

I only put on my desktop important icons. All the crap gets delected. I sometimes have misc files on my desktop when working big multi file projects, but that is only a temporary messure.

Point of advice, if you have anything on you desktop named the following, get rid of it:
Connect to the Internet
Install.exe
Setup.exe
New Folder

Easy...I usually slot only what I absolutely need onto the desktop.

Everything else I remember much like my house...in nice stacked piles of stuff.

Background

Desktop

I too like to keep most of the icons off of my desktop. I really only have three permanent ones that a I leave up there and I could actually stand to lose the network one if I wanted to. The rest of the stuff on there right now are things that are in progress or just haven't been filed yet. My computer desktop is much much neater than my real desktop.

Instead of icons on the desktop I put a lot of the stuff I use regularly in the toolbar (showing) or at the top of the Windows' start menu. If I had been thinking I would have put the cursor over the clock so the date would be displayed too. Oh well.

Holy  Now I see that our desktop is in between being a mess and being spotless. Just like I prefer my home to be. We always change where the icons are to suit the pic on the desktop so we can actually see the face of the person, we rarely have pics of people we don't know or random images. We mostly use pics of our kids.
