"Gix, my auspexes are picking up traces consistent with a a lot of weapons fire and exlposives. Us caution."
"Affirm. Proceed with caution. May the Emperor be with you."
"I've go my skulls to watch me. Hethor, keep the cargo intact."
The guardsman snorted. "Don't worry about my job, girl. Watch your back."

Some minutes after the Techpriests's death, Inquisitor Adivan emerged from the maze of cargo cratesand walked slowly toward the door. After confirming that the Techpriest was dead, he turned to the woman who had asked them to come.
"Now, you were saying?"
"Now, you were saying?"
"The bird let out a slow chicken cackle. It sounded like a chicken, but in her heart she knew it wasn't. In that instant, she completely understood the concept of a chicken that was not a chicken. This looked like a chicken, like most of the Mud People's chickens. But this was no chicken.

"Emperors Grace! I have the strangest feeling tht the webway portal we seek is either buried, built over, or in the heart o the Demons lair and the Spawn has it boobytaped."
Nathan sighed heavily "We have a few options available to us.1 h call tht went out apparently was recieved by other Inquisitors we join forces with them and go planetside. 2 I commandeer a shuttle and we go down planetside 3 We stow away with one group and go planetside that way.4 If the shit is really and trully about to hit the fan ...I find an astropth, contact the nearest Marine chapter, and call in an Exterminatus...it has the benefit of us not directly confrnting the beasts....but we also will have no knowledge of if they were beaten or not."
Nathan sat in a nearby chair."I figure plan 4 should be our gone to Hell planDo you agree Cait?"

They stepped out into the corridor leading from the docking bay, only to watch a crowd of panicked laborers and station staff run by.
"Wait! In the name of the Emperor, hold!" Prius called out, brandishing his chainsword and interposing himself in front of a knot of refugees. "What is happening here?"
Michaelson moved to cover his back, brandishing his lasrifle... if the barrel happened to drift close to the commissar, well, that was simply an accident. Franner gave him a look and split wide, also holding his rifle.
"They're killing each other, lord... commissar!" a woman dressed in tattered utilities announced.
Prius scowled. "Who is killing who?"
"Nobody knows, lord commissar," a man chimed in. "Xenos and others..."
Prius' scowl deepened. "Xenos scum, on a station of the Imperium? You will take us there."
His tone brooked no disagreement, and the laborers exchanged helpless glances. Prius glanced at Franner. "We will assess the situation and determine our course of action from there," he stated firmly, turning back to the laborers. "Lead on."

agreed human.
As it stands our involvement will enventually be discovered by the others, it is best to begin by entering an aliance with them, as they will beleive us to be their enemies should they find out on their own. I shall leave whom and which we shall reveal our selves to you human, they are your people they are yours to judge.

The scariest folk song lyrics are "My Boy Grew up to be just like me" from cats in the cradle by Harry Chapin
Kruger entered the control room where the Kroot were standing next to the corpse of.. A Techpriest? An inquisitorial investigation into the Adeptus Mechanicus was long overdue, in Kruger's opinion. They were allowed to get away with murder and borderline heresy because they held secrets that were vital to the future of Mankind. As had this one, appearently, before he had fired a poisoned dart into his brainpan. He sighed. "You did your best, Shaper. You may commense your... Investigation." Mallok tentavely nealt down and tore a chunk out of the priest and swallowed it, before promptly throwing up.
"It is tainted." He said.
"Chaos?"
"It would appear so."
"Are you able to assimilate his knowledge?" Inquired Kruger, referring to the Kroot's ability to absorb data from a subject's brain, provided they had eaten it first.
"Negative," Said the Kroot in its perculiar whistling and clicking dialect. "There is too much metal." He indicated the Techpriest's cranial implants.
"Take him back to the ship; I'll deal with the red tape."
Pater reholstered his Laspistol and started putting his boots back on. "I'd like to know what's going on, too."

Unfortunately, taking the body to their ship was rather problematic. Two squads of the fearsome Inquisitorial Stormtroopers blocked the way and confiscated the body, on the authority of Lord Inquisitor Vonrilyental... For a short time, more of these Stormtroopers swept the station, restoring order at gunpoint wherever they could, ignoring Inqisitorial seals and the like.
The Servitor however, was overlooked, and soon, its corpse was being taken apart by the station's crew. The failure of the assassination attempt had emboldened them, and the Captain called a council (to which everyone but our pointy eared friend and the space marines are invited) to discuss what little had been learnt.

There was a large and disgruntled crowd outside the entrance to the docking bay that led to, among other things, the planetary ferry. Vorus pushed his way through, which wasn't hard for someone in power armor. The Adeptus Mechanicus habit of showing their hardware off came in handy sometimes. Station crew had the situation well in hand and were steadily dispersing the crowd with occasional aid of stun batons. The batons had not been switched on, a good sign.
When Vorus reached the security cordon around the entrance the guard at its front practically squawked. "You're a Techpriest. From the Adeptus Mechanicus."
"Yes. Yes I am." said Vorus slowly in a condescending tone, as if for children. To his surprise, the guard immediately waved him through. The techpriest went forward, assistant in tow. He glanced up at his attending servo skull, "Far too easy, I'm afraid"
A few steps down the corridor a station appeared and instructed the pair to follow him. He led them down to the cargo side of the bay, and not the expected passenger side. There were clearly special circumstances afoot, which was all that stopped Vorus from severely chewing out the anonymous attendant.
A female, who Vorus dimly recognized as a captain whose name began with the letter N, immediately turned and started towards him upon his entrance. "It's about time you got here. We need answ-... Who are you?" It seemed like she had expected a different techpriest, and had momentarily mistaken Vorus for him - an astonishingly common mistake. The wide variety of cyberenhancements should make them more distinguishable, if anything.
"Im an engineer, sent to troubleshoot the recent heretical activity and acts of violence here," he said, referring to the general level of unrest in the system. He certainly had not been sent millions of miles to look into something that had just happened scant hours ago. But one thing led to another, as things tend to happen, and the techpriest found himself inducted into a council of inquisitors, of all things.

Vorgrun and Kneedr jogged back into the Wereraptors' staging area.
Kneedr spoke up. "Zag, gotcha some dataslate here. Says they want you at some conference."
"Let me see that," Zag replied, taking the dataslate and nodding. "Riff, you're in charge. Greshn and Schmidt with me."
The medic acknowledged the order and grabbed the younger private, quickly following their commander. Upon reaching the designated area, the lieutenant once again issued orders. "Schmidt, guard the door. Karey, let's head inside." Greshn nodded, taking her place behind Zag as he saluted the officers in the room and then stood at parade-rest.
"Lieutenant Zaggridson, Wereraptors Imperial Guard special operations Stormtrooper unit reporting as ordered."

Nathan walked up to the guards outside of the docking chamber
"Sorry citizen but only authorised personel arer alowed beyond us to the meeting" The Leiutenant said with a smirk.
"Sides it isnt a beer hall like you are most likely looking for"
Nathan slowly reached into his cloak and showed the Leiutentant a 10cm by 5 cm metal and stone slab.He didnt say a word as the fellow palled. The guards near him shifted at his outburst.
"M - Master Inquisitor please I ....well I believe you are expected within."
Nathan slid past the man and entered the hallway. He noted the others there and sat down to listen to the discussion at hand.

His squad made it quite clear that they were ready for a fight as they approached the wereraptors standing guard at the door.
" Seargent Jaerdn, 1st Briar Huntsmen. I've a meeting to attend." He'd brush past the guards, his squad taking up positions to cover the approaches to the door. Silently, he stands off to a corner of the room.

The stormtroopers had not answered any of his inquiries, and so Prius followed them in grim silence. The implied authority of the Inquisition behind the stormtroopers easily dwarfed his powers as a mere junior commissar, after all.
He enters the conference room, his eyes sweeping around to note the occupants. Franner and Michaelson join the growing group of Inquisitorial hangers-on outside.
He stands near the entrance, hands behind his back as he waits to find out what the hell is going on and where he's supposed to sit.

"What a mess," Severa commented. "There's going to be holy hell to pay for this, when it gets sorted out."
"Worse," said Gix. "Someone tried to kill an inquisitor. Or more than one. Those men-" he pointed to small mob of dangerous looking characters "my colleagues' retainers. I've been called to a meeting. You two keep an eye on things."
Jolan's rosette got him through the line of stormtroopers and into the room. The junior inquisitor self conciously took a to the side. This was his third investigation as a full inquisitor and while his record was nothing to be ashamed of, the weight of experience carried by his fellows was intimidating.

"Thank you," said the young man as he accepted. The young inquisitor almost succeeded at projecting an aura of calm competency, but his darting eyes ruined it. "Do you know who is senior?"

By the Emperor, inquisitors! Prius wondered just what he had gotten pulled into...
As the commissars were viewed by the rank and file to be judge, jury and executioner, so were inquisitors viewed by commissars. The ultimate extension of the Emperor's will, their word was law. He looked to the left and right, his expression unreadable other than a slight widening of his eyes, before taking one of the indicated seats. When a moment comes for him to introduce himself, he speaks in a clear, unwavering voice.
"Commissar Prius Ristani, of the 332nd Borean Rifles. May I ask why I have been brought here, Lord Inquisitors?"

The commander of Blood Angels, 1st Company, was slighty shorter than Jon had remembered. "Good to see you again, Sergeant Mikalen." he said jovially (for a Space Marine, anways.) Commander Gaius had a scar-riddled face, and one eye was missing. "Down to business, then," said Gaius in an officious tone, leaning over a holographic display, that, for the moment, was showing a satellite image of the area surrounding the CP. He tapped a few buttons on the display control panel, causing the map to zoom out, and several areas to become overlayed with a red highlight.
"These areas are where our forces, mostly Imperial Guard, are patrolling and searching. They have been unsuccessful so far, and their failure to find anything has compelled the Inquisition to send forth a detachment of their own personnel.Your job, Sergeant, will be to provide security and any service required of you to the Inquisitors when they arrive." Jon nodded silently. "Yes, sir. When are they scheduled to arrive, and why have WE been called in to escort them, when Guardsmen could do the same?" Gaius ran a finger across his empty eye socket. "Orders from the Inquisition. Obviously, something important is going on here. It's not every day a company gets called out to this region. Anyways, most of them are in the Star Fort right now. They should be arriving relatively soon. Until then, you can bunk in the barracks downstairs. Dismissed, Sergeant."

"A pleasure to meet you inquisitor. Jolan Gix, also of the Ordo Malleus. I have been in service to the Emperor's Holy Inquisition for 10 years, but this is my second year as a full Inquisitor. "

When he first notices the assassin, his hand slides instinctively toward his laspistol, before withdrawing carefully. He meets the gaze of the stranger, his cold eyes not flinching away.
He knows, somehow, that if he'd actually tried to draw his weapon he would have been dead before his pistol cleared the holster. But he's not particularly intimidated.
