On rereading Captain Tycho's post I confirmed that we didn't see any weapons that would take out a land raider. Only heavy bolters and anti air launchers. Of course, it could have been a servitor with a BFG.

Okay, ready to rock and roll, and with that I depart for the night. If needed while I'm out, I again leave Prius in IO's capable hands, and if he's not around, PCM, and ultimately NecronLord. I might be busy tomorrow, so don't hesitate to post for me if needed.

*wonders if he'll still have a regiment by tomorrow evening...* :)

Or a few squads of Necrons. Was what remained of the Land Raider actually described at any point? I don't recall.

A few squads of Necrons? You think it takes more than one squad of Necrons to wipe out a land raider?

Bahahahahahahahahhahahaha!

Is that because Necron squads get heavy weapons (I have no idea if they do or not), or simply because they were weakened for the game? Going by game mechanics, an individual shot from a Necron gauss flayer has 'only' a 1 in 54* chance of hitting, penmetrating, and destroying a Land Raider (or any heavily armoured vehicle), so it would take a single squad several turns of shooting to destroy it unless they are lucky.

* Note: this is based on the idea (from memory) that Gauss flayers will cause a glancing hit to any vehicle on a six, which may or may not be accurate.

As far as I know you are correct about the game mechanics. But that is the math for a one shot kill. When you include stunning the crew, blowing off weapons, and disabling parts of the vehicle, the math favors something bad happening with a single volley. And then there is the second volley. But the Necrons have heavier weapons than the lowly (it is merely heinous) gauss flayer. A single heavy destroyer (and wouldn't anyone with more brains than a Borg send a heavy weapon dude to kill a tank) and . . . . . well you get the picture.

Anyway, as I said, was what remained of the Land Raider ever described?

No, but there was analysis on the remains of the heretic's gun servitor. So there is no reason for our characters to be worried about Necrons. For us it is background information and a warning from an enigmatic xeno.

No.

Incidentally, I've just given Gyllia Xyng a huge hammer, since
A) Large axe-things seem common for Techpriests and
B) Heroines having huge hammers is a well-established tradition. Think White Mage. :P

Well, I'm off to bed now, and I'll be spending most of tommorrow GMing an entirely different RPG, so NecronLord can have my character in the meantime. Just bear in mind that, while he has a fairly tolerant attitude towards people employing Xenos, etc, in their retinues anything which is verifiably daemon-related is a big no-no, and he would consider anyone knowingly using such a thing to be a heretic.

btw, would it be okay to retcon my character slightly to give him a small amont of TK?

(by small, I mean flip switches/choke people level, with break necks being the limit he tries really hard)

EDIT: Clarified the wording slightly.

I think so; I'm constantly retconning my characters as I flesh them out more.

The Land Raider was destroyed by a shoulder launched vortex grenade. All the marines were sucked directly into the Warp.

It's brown trouser time children! :)
