Fine.
2: DEBATE WILL BEGIN AS OF 0900 (9:00AM) SATURDAY MORNING, US EASTERN STANDARD TIME (GMT +7hrs.)
Baaaad. I finish exams for the year then. I'm an Aussie student. I am going to be in nooooo shape to debate for a day or so.
3: DEBATE WILL BE POSTED PUBLICLY AND UNALTERED AT BOTH STARDESTROYER.NET AND CREATIONWEB.ORG.
Good.
For StarDestroyer.net, we present:

2 Gladiators: WeeMadAndo and Durandal

5 Judges: Neoolong, Vympel, NecronLord, Coyote, Yogi

Judging criteria: 1-10 scale based on:

Effective use of Evidence
Clarity of Communication
Staying on Topic/Relevancy
Convincing
Civility
Sounds all good.
Anyone can coach or supply additional research as needed, but outside sources (books, articles, etc) must be accredited. No proof from "some guy's cousin I met at a party".

(if there are no objections, I will post this within the next four hours)
Cool. Let my oppenent have first post. As I'd prefer to be rebutting/counter-pointing.

Good luck, guys, I'll be here for reference if they bring up obscure Scripture (although if they even LOOK at the Apocrypha I'll cry foul).

Sounds like both a good panel and a good way to judge.
Topics Suggested by StarDestroyer.net:
Young/Old Earth Creationism and Cosmology
Secular Humanist ethics and Biblical Morality (including, but not limited to, such topics as intolerance and Commandment law)
For goodness' sake, I could take them on on those topics, and I'm a Christian. Literalists are dead meat on those topics, since YEC fails to displace anything as a theory, and unless they can get a very eloquent speaker who believes in symbolism and knows the OT like the back of their hand morality will be hard to argue (I might be able to argue Biblical morality, but it would be difficult). BTW, I would suggest changing it from Commandment law to Mosaic law. Mosaic law covers the entire first five books of the OT. Commandment law is just the Ten Commandments.

I'm here if y'all need me.

Verilon, I think you'll end up taking my place on the Judge's Panel while I patrol their shores. Since I've gotten word on my Army Reserve duty and cannot depend on being here for part of the debate, you'll take over for me entirely (that will be listed when I give this to CreationWeb).

So again, I'll have this on their board by either late tonight or early tomorrow morning, barring any last-minute changes.

If you guys need anything, I will try my best to help... I'm not the greatest debator on sciences, but I do have background in human philosophy... but I wouldn't count my chickens... but I'll be around

Durandal and WeeMadAndo: I posted my "warning order" to them and this was what Apologist replied with; you can see the exchange between both of us at the CW Post Archive.
Apologist

I was under the impression that this was to be a one-on-one debate.

Anyway, though, I would like to personally speak with, and agree with, my opponent on what the subject of our debate will be.

And, the email thing sounds fine.
--So, then, if you guys want to contact Apologist (I'll track down his e-mail) then you can agree to subjects between yourselves and we'll be one step closer to beginning the rock-n-roll phase of the event...

Judging criteria: 1-10 scale based on:

Effective use of Evidence

Judges must post Rationale for their grades:
Such as: "the CW rep used his evidence regarding intelligent design very well, so I gave him a 9 on that, but he lost the topic halfway through and went into Old Testament prophesies, so he only got a 4 for staying on the relevant topic..."

They won't have it. Which means we can reject any/all ideas that they have....or, at LEAST one....

Hey, Vympel, if you don't want to I can do it. I was on the original list but I gave my seat to Verilon 'cause I may have Army Reserve duty taking me away for one of the relevent weekends. But with a 48-hour time lag on posts, I can take it no problem. But I figured you'd put some time in the trenches over there and might like a chance to keep involved...

Anyhow, let me know what works for you and we can still make last-minute corrections (they still haven't even formalized their topics or Judge's Panel yet...)

I'll give it a go- it shouldn't be too hard as long as they're not Darkstar clones. What about logical fallacies in the judging criteria?

I think that falls under the effective use of evidence, or lack thereof.

I think I would respectfully request definitions of all the fallcaies (Appeal to Authority, Strawman, etc) since I am not sure exactly what all these mean, and have them posted.

Have you checked Mike's page on Creationism vs. Evolution? He goes over some of the types. There is also a sticky thread about fallacies I think at the top of the SLAM forum.

I know a little about the creation/evolution debate. I have seen a lot of their fallacies before, and have developed techniques to highlight them.

If you need help, I will gladly do so.

Well, I have the Apologists e-mail address, now, posted at the CreationWeb Archive and right here:

The Apologist
mdevpak@hotmail.com

So now WeeMadAndo and Durandal can decide between themselves which of them will go after Apologist; no one else at CreationWeb was interested/courageous enough to pick up the sword for their dignity. Whatever.

They have been soooo dodgy on the subject, again, see the Archive for the illogical minutae that I was dealing with while setting up the logistics. Quite personally, I think they're stalling. They clearly have never been in a real debate before at all.

Guys, if we do this again, let's find an adversary that can get organized and comprehend basic logic.
