Van Halen count as classic rock, no questions asked. They've been around since the 70s and influenced a generation of copycat bands who were nowhere near as good.
The three songs you mentioned were all big radio hits way back when, but they have much better stuff than that. Grab a copy of their self titled first album from 1978 and be ready to pick your jaw up from the floor .

Ramones, Sex Pistols? Punk bands yeah.Frank Hipper wrote:Not ONE of those is a classic rock band!
The Sex Pistols? Classic rock? What the hell is wrong with you?
Frankie Goes to Hollywood? Are you unsane? They weren't even a rock band in the fisrt damned place!
Just because it's more than fifteen years old does NOT mean it qualifies as classic rock!
I mean, fer fuck's sake, THE RAMONES?

Meatloaf does count as music (:P), and this just sorts things better so that those of us into music can post our musical topics in a slower forum so they don't get buried like they sometimes do in OT, before people even have a chance to respond to them. It has nothing to do with my empire.

Oh, sorry, am so used to Meatloaf getting crap that I didn't think you were serious. I'd say he's something other than classic rock, but I'm not sure what. Not quite modern rock, but classic rock to me is Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Yes, etc. So....I don't know. His Divine Shadow wrote:Yeah but would you say it's classic rock or something else?

In all seriouness he did what Queen could only try to do. Rock Opera. Peoplemay laugh and point at sweaty Meatloaf, but the guy fucking rules. Anyone who doesn't feel something from his songs is medicaly dead.
