Gah! That paraphrase is nothing of the sort! It's completely changing the meaning of the passage. That verse is on adultery, you can't say they're the same thing!

Every one of these fuckers uses the Bible to "prove" that their bigotry is OK. And moderate Christians continue to defend the Bible while simultaneously criticising the bigots who take it literally. How long can this go on?

This is the reason why the Bible should be made into a movie.

Exactly as it's written, ver batum (sp?). This way, at least the intelligent members of the human race will see what the bible actuallys says and see what madness it is. Let's face it: Every bible movie every made has focused on the "good" parts, giving everyone this nice rosy appearence of the new and old testament.

Showing the bible as it's actually written would be a very nice dose of reality for some people.

Only problem is is that it'll probably be rated NC-17 for all the pointless killing, and maiming, and butchering, and smiting and mauling, and burning.......

Wasn't the Bible revised many times in ancient history?

Any intellegent Christian that actually reads the Bible won't believe it's the literal word of God, because they won't want to worship a mass-murdering tyrant.
