The big G has hit the big 5-0. Today he's getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the permiere of Godzilla: Final Wars will be held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre today.

...wow 50 years old. Anyone else got a film series that's gone on that long? (28 films btw) Or is that some kind of a record?

Isn't Oz a TV series though? Or am I thinking of something else?

The Bond films didn't start until '62, almost a decade after Goji hit the screen. Plus didn't they just get into the 20s with Die Another Day?

On a related note:

1.) Godzilla: Tokyo SOS (last years Godzilla movie) hits DVD here in the states on December 14th.

2.) TokyoMonsters.com has the latest Godzilla: Final Wars TV promo here

3.) We get to see Godzilla kick the crap out of the American Godzilla from the 1998 movie (or at the very least an all CGI monster that bears a remarkable resemblance to it) in Sydney australia.

4.) Toho says this could be the final Godzilla film.. of course the last time they said that he was back in 5 years.

Finally, justice is served in the form of a giant radioactive breath using lizard. Now they'll pay for all those soaps we keep buying.

Tora-San. 48 films. Admittedly, it only dates back to '69, but it has more films than the big G. It's listed in Guiness as the longest film series in the world.
