Assume a standard, quasimodern confrence room is prepared. With a big hologram of the galaxy over it, like the one depicted in the 4th Ed 40K rulebook. Complete with the text.

This is the intro to the campaign in true "throw in the deep end and see if they can swim" style. Codos to NecronLord!

By the time he was ordered to stop, he probably had at least fifty icky trophies(a dozen of which may have belonged to unfortunate Guardsman).Petrosjko wrote:I was going to mention when I got back from the store here that we had forgotten about Consequences' psychotic killing machine roaming around in the temple, but he beat us to it. Oh well, I'm sure he left some interesting blood spatters and gibbets laying around.
Of course, if Necronlord wants him to go berzerk at some point, that's entirely up to him.

You think that's bad, what about asking about orbital bombardment and exterminus? On a frickin' hive world just because we are having some tough street fighting.
But it would be nice if Knives was a little more . . . .descriminent.

Hey, just because I've always wanted to push the big red button and wipe out all life on a planet doesn't make me a bad person.Imperial Overlord wrote:You think that's bad, what about asking about orbital bombardment and exterminus? Considering the number of planets I've razed in MoOII that would be a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

He's kiled far less Guardsmen(today anyway) than our resident Commisar has managed in his career. Its just a matter of priorities. A bog standard grunt from a shit regiment is worth little enough that it is acceptable for him to be blasted if this also removes the Skritarii he was engaged in h-t-h with. Likewise, if they are closely engaged with the enemy, he isn't going to interrupt his burst to attempt to spare any low level friendlies. As the value of the theoretical friendly goes up, so does the threshold required for them to be classified as acceptable losses.Imperial Overlord wrote:You think that's bad, what about asking about orbital bombardment and exterminus? Of course, pointing a weapon at him if you are less than a company grade officer tends to engage the self-preservation protocols, and lets just say that some of the Guardsman out there were too jumpy for their own good.
His handlers consider the blue-on-blue incidents that occur a useful means of letting him vent, without endangering their highly trained selves.

Aaaaaah... MoOII. There's a game that could've done for a 40K mod, even if there was no conceivable way the scale would've worked out.Imperial Overlord wrote:Considering the number of planets I've razed in MoOII that would be a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
Funny part being that every species other than the Tau would have that unpleasant flaw like the Silicoids that makes them impossible to negotiate with.
Since NL is probably gone for the day, I guess we're sort of left with thumb-twiddling until the negotiations start, unless anybody has any ideas...

Speaking of MoOII the best score I ever go was when I accidently won the game early on one of the rare times I played humans.

I played it so many times I can't even remember what my best score was. My most glorious moment was in overwhelming a massively superior Psilon force by using stealth and destroying their planets until their fleet disintegrated due to lack of maintenance. I had like six doom stars when they pulled the old "Hi! By the way, we're at war!" routine, and they had a fleet of over a hundred ships, the usual 'save every vessel ever made' strategy.
I had been working on a 'wipe out the Antarans' strategy, but they had to go and declare war on me...

I had a similar incident. I got into a BDZ race with an opponent with a massively superior fleet, but I divided mine and out wrecked him.
I don't remember the score, but it was ridiculously high because it was so early in the game. The Silicoids were the largest empire out of about five races because of their uber adaption abilities that allowed them to use junk worlds. I allied and made trade/tech agreements with all other powers to try to stop the silicoids before they started filling up all those worlds. And then the UN thing happened and because of my diplomacy everybody voted to make my leader and the Silicoids population hadn't expanded fast enough for them to block it. I won so early that I got some god aweful point score.

No I haven't. I mostly played Dharlaks (so I could steal tech) and Psilons (so I could develop tech) and ruthlessly conquer my enemies. And it is so strange that two people who have similar attitudes in MoOII would like 40K. Coincidence or conspiracy?

There are no coincidences, my good Inquisitor.
As for Gal Civ, check it out. It's not MoO, but it's a damn fine TBS game. It introduces moral questions into the game in terms of decisions you make for your civilization, which determines your civilization's orientation (good, neutral, evil) and hence how other civilizations relate to you. That's just one of the many nifty features. There are so many random events in the game that I know I haven't encountered them all, and I played it pretty solidly for about six to eight months.
