"Roger-Roger!"
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!

The robot ambulance

A smaller robot carried by the ambulance, which can go onto a battlefield and drag off wounded soldiers.

All together, I'd say it's not that bad an idea... the ambulance is surprisingly large as well.
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

Is the ambulance itself crewed? Or is it a robot as well? And how resistant to enemy fire can we expect these to be?

I just noticed that the shoulder mounted lasers look a bit like the "barrel" of a NG phaser.
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

I always thought that too, but ST: TNG wasn't till after '86. The laser effects were similar too and one of the robot arms was in an episode of ST: VOY once.

Probably no better then proof against 7.62x51mm fire, and probably not the AP version of that round. Protection against anything of larger caliber certainly isn't going to be present; you generally don't find armor against .50cal on vehicles, which don't weight at least ten tons. So basically its like having a very high grade of body armor.

That said, being immune to common 7.62x51 (although I'd think they'd armor against 7.62x54, aren't the rounds very similar in performance?) is quite a good thing. Means you're also safe against most shell fragments.

Do we mix in a little AP ammo with our 7.62x51 belts? More pertinent question, do our enemies?

Good technology. But I dont think it could replace normal soldiers unless there are thousands of computer operators running them behind the scenes. :)
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

We just make as many as we can of these things in the event that we all get nuked one day. Then, the drones come out of hiding carrying 25MT nukes each and walk into Moscow like postmen with badnews.

BAM! No more commies.

I can imagine the looks on the soldiers faces when the robots turn around and create a squad full of "friendly fire" chunky salza.

Johnny 5 is the coolest "modern" robot ever made. It has tracks. That alone is enough for me to give it points. It's laser also looks cool.

I'm sure Shep will recall our conversation regarding battlefield robots:

"A lego kit with a shotgun gaff-taped onto it..."

That is the future of combat. And it looks like the US is on the right track.
