He collected police and fed badges, and getting one from Nixon was what he was after.

I once read that in the Oval Office, Nixon asked him about the Beatles. Elvis mentioned he didn't care for them and thought they contributed to the hippie culture. Nixon casually stated, "maybe I should add them to my enemies list." Elvis answered, "you have an enemies list?" Nixon quickly changed the subject.
