80's MetalHeads, REJOICE!

Post by LadyTevar »

Let's make up: Motley Crue reunites
'80s hair-metal band to record, tour

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- The 1980s glam metal band Motley Crue made hard living and wild sexcapades a centerpiece of their music and their lives, selling millions of albums along the way.

Now, after a five-year hiatus from performing together, the original big-haired, leather-clad Crue members are eager to slip back into the music -- if not the lifestyle -- depicted in hit rockers like "Girls, Girls, Girls" and "Smokin' in the Boys' Room."

The band arrived Monday at the Hollywood Palladium in a hearse to announce their reunion. About 1,000 people cheered as the group opened a performance with "Dr. Feelgood" following a news conference.

With support from cable music television network VH1, the band -- vocalist Vince Neil, drummer Tommy Lee, guitarist Mick Mars and bass player Nikki Sixx -- plan a world tour beginning in February in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The band will hit more than 60 cities in North America during two legs and play several festivals in Europe before wrapping up the tour in southeast Asia and Australia.

The band will release a double-CD greatest hits compilation with three new songs entitled "Red, White & Crue" in February.

"We're just ready to go out and rock," Neil said at the news conference. "We're still Motley. We still rock."

The band, which originally formed in 1981, regrouped a few months ago after Sixx wrote some songs and asked Neil if he would sing them.

"There were definitely issues to be worked out," Sixx said of bad blood between his band mates.

"We got in and we were like, 'Wow. Where's the problem here? Did we make a mountain out of a mole hill?' " Sixx said in an interview before the reunion event. "We're a dysfunctional band, that is driven by drama and we are always on the fringe of something going wrong."

Although Neil and Lee have dabbled in reality television, the band members have been known less in recent years for their music and more for their personal troubles.

Lee has been in and out of probation for years stemming from charges in 1998 that he abused ex-wife actress Pamela Anderson, with whom he has two children. He also faced charges of child abuse and a firearms violation.

In 1989, Sixx nearly died from a heroin overdose. Mars is recovering from hip replacement surgery to treat a degenerative illness.

Sixx said Mars is ready to play, despite the surgery.

"He's in rehearsal. He's standing up. He's playing his guitar. He's shredding. He's been through hell," Sixx said. "Here we stand together ready to wave the flag for rock 'n roll."

What is this, like the 13th time they've reunited?

Besides, Tommy Lee and Vince O'Neill hate each other.

Tommy Lee's greatest achievement in American culture was banging Pamela Anderson on videotape, not making music.

Uh, why should we be cheering the return of a hair band?

Poison was a hair band. Warrant was a hair band.
CRÜE was HEAVYMETAL.

*rubs bruise* Crue was glam metal, that's hardly heavy in my book. Sorry. I'll stick to the... uh... more solidly rooted heavy metal, thankyouverymuch.

Personaly i thought steering the speedboat with is jacobs was more impressive, it's not like Pam would be a hard conquest for a rock star.

Because, the more "hair" bands come back, who write their own music and play their own instruments, maybe the less we'll be subjected to to the utter shit that passes for music today.

Zing! Nothing like the hollywood sluts. Easy to mock, easy to jerk off to, and easy to snicker about.

I just saw a thing about Red White and Crue on TV. I can't say I'm terribly impressed.

Motley Crue wasn't exactly the best metal band (Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are both easily superior, although Priest was rather inconsistent at times), nor were they the best 80s hard rock band (a category most true metalheads would put them in), because that category obviously goes to AC/DC, no contest. But anyone who says he doesn't get charged up by the opening riff of "Dr. Feelgood" is either lying or simply has no appreciation for rock 'n roll.

Is that in reference to the video of Pam banging Brett Michaels of Poison? :D

It still should be pretty cool to see Motley Crue back on tour. From what I've heard Vince Neal has really cleaned up in the last year and gotten in shape. He was looking pretty bad during his stint on "The Surreal Life". Although, I got a kick out of him being such an asshole to this groupy.
