Hey, I like that song!

Come on, just give yourself a mental recording of that synthesizer opening. You know you want to.

Hey, Fatboy Slim is good. And I don't get exposed to any of this crap because I only listen to about three stations.
Oopss, I didn't read the thread title so carefully, missing the "crap" part. I don't think Fatboy Slim is crap either, but their songs *are* catchy. See, having "Ya Mama" played over and over while catching up with the deadline....

I like that song too! So much so, in fact, that the director of the Johns Hopkins wind ensemble said he's going to start the tradition of playing it at the end of every wind ensemble concert so that I'll play with them forever. It's a staple in our pep band repertoire, and my friend Mike had it as his ringtone on my behalf (because it wasn't available for my phone) too. My love for that song is probably rather unhealthy. :D

How could I have forgotten that one? Both the local stations in DC and my Launchcast are playing it non-stop! I didn't like it when I first heard it, but its grown on me (unfortunately).
Bah, it's a perfectly acceptable peice of psuedo-punk pop. I liked it from the start and it's only grown.

I also have to add to the not crap but not brilliant list:

Franz Feridinand, Take Me On
Modest Mouse, Float On

And truly crap but catchy:

Los Lonely Boys, How Far From Heaven

My pep band director really likes that song too, for some unknown reason. I don't mind playing it so much, as since I'm not a brass player, my part is easy. The actual song...meh

So you're ok with a guy singing about how his ex-girlfriend is dating a guy that looks like a different girlfriend of the singing guy? I find it kind of annoying. I like "Mr. Brightside" a lot more.

And I CAN'T STAND that Modest Mouse song. Ugh, it drives me bonkers.

I play baritone in pep band, so I get to rock out with the bass part. I LOVE it, all versions of it. :D

A lot of stereotypical "gay" music and similar techno/trance/dance stuff.

e.g., Haddaway's What is Love and Darude's Sandstorm.

I don't know why, but they're just so damn addicting and catchy.

Yeah, I am. I don't claim it's anything brilliant but I like the song.

Might be because I heard it live before I heard the radio version. *shrugs*

The theme song to Friends. It's the sole reason I never watched the show, but it's impossible to get out of one's head.

The Friends theme, the utter...what would cartman say...fagosity... of that song, and the vocals, and the fist-clenching video and the opening sequence of friends coupled with the annoyance and the general crapness of the program itself. Urgh.

In the spirit of Stormbringer nominating "Somebody Told Me," I suggest "Take Me Out," by Franz Ferdinand. Hated that thing so much. Now it's my goddamned ring tone.

The entire cheese-music culture in the UK is based upon the concept, it wasnt something I came across much whilst I was in Oregon - we went to the RHA spring ball, and the only pieces of cheese on offer were cotton-eye-joe and thriller. If that was a UK spring ball, there'd have been 'living on a prayer' 'summer of 69' and who knows what else until about 3am.

Was it just a bad experience, or does america not do cheese-music in the same way that the UK does?

A song I absolutely hate is...

Tired Of Waiting For You
The Kinks

I'm so tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
I'm so tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
I was a lonely soul
I had nobody till I met you
But you keep-a me waiting
All of the time
What can I do?

It's your life
And you can do what you want
Do what you like
But please don't keep-a me waiting
Please don't keep-a me waiting
'Cause I'm so tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
So tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
I was a lonely soul
I had nobody till I met you
But you keep-a me waiting
All of the time
What can I do?

It's your life
And you can do what you want
Do what you like
But please don't keep-a me waiting
Please don't keep-a me waiting
'Cause I'm so tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
So tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
For you
For you

I'm so tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
I'm so tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
I was a lonely soul
I had nobody till I met you
But you keep-a me waiting
All of the time
What can I do?
It's your life
And you can do what you want
Do what you like
But please don't keep-a me waiting
Please don't keep-a me waiting
'Cause I'm so tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
So tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
I was a lonely soul
I had nobody till I met you
But you keep-a me waiting
All of the time
What can I do?
It's your life
And you can do what you want
Do what you like
But please don't keep-a me waiting
Please don't keep-a me waiting
'Cause I'm so tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
So tired
Tired of waiting
Tired of waiting for you
For you
For you

Then stop waiting you idiot !!

It's just so long and all you hear is I'm tired of waiting. I always have to shut the radio off if it comes on.

And I love the fisheads song. That's a song I don't mind having stuck in my head ;)

Ok

McArthur Park is the worst song

The worst catchy song offenders are as follows

The Song that Never Ends- Sherri Lewis and Lamb Chop
Hakuna Matatda- Disney's The Lion King
Bear Nessessities- Disney's Jungle Book
The Maid Of Amsterdam - Pirate folk tune, mostly because kids will sing it not knowing what's going on, adolecents and pervy adults will include the lyrics cut out from the kids PG version.

The scariest folk song lyrics are "My Boy Grew up to be just like me" from cats in the cradle by Harry Chapin
