Taran paused, Help me. Help me defeat this monster!

One could say that he was a less talented psyker than some of the others present, but he was also more skilled, trained on Holy Terra and with centuries of experience. Cease your blathering, heretic, he commanded, in the psycic equivalent of an angry roar, or face the Emperor’s Judgement!

The Psyking withdrew like a scalded cat. Ah, well. Just remember; Aim above and to the right; That's his weak spot.

Prius spasmed as the wave of force slammed into his body and every muscled tensed at once, a scream bursting from him as blood fountained from his nose, ears... ear... and mouth, before falling to the ground in a heap.

“Hey!” he shouted to the naval officer behind him, “if we make it out, remind me to give those Iron Men psi-scanners in future. It’d make finding this fucker much easier.”

Torquen deigned to notice Adivan and his melta. "Fool." He snarled, and punched him in the face with a power fist.

Gix ignored Prius with an inquisitor's professional callousness that allowed to him to ignore Hethor's bleeding body. That thing had just killed a senior inquisitor and Gix had three times drawn upon his full strength this day. Battered, bruised, his systems overstressed, and having fought two running battles today, he knew what the outcome would be. He triggered his vox.

"This is Gix. Kruger is dead, slain by warp animated armour. It's power is immense. It claims to have been an inquisitor and it knew Krugar. I expect I will not last long before it dispatches me." He had seen it withstand Severa's plasma blast. He gripped his force rod and power sword. He had a slight chance. If the conversion field managed to protect him as he closed, a luck strike with either weapon was not out of the question.

As Adivan lay on the ground some distance away, unable to see through his ruined helmet, he thanked the Emperor for his gift of precognition. Without it, his head would have been sprayed across every wall in the vicinity. As it was, he had been leaping back as the blow came, and it had merely destroyed the front of his helmet knocked half his teeth out, and pulped his nose, and shattered one of his cheekbones. Oh, and probably partially deafened him as well. You'll pay for that, Warpspawn...

This is Gix. Kruger is dead, slain by warp animated armour. It's power is immense. It claims to have been an inquisitor and it knew Krugar. I expect I will not last long before it dispatches me. The first of the Iron Men abruptly stopped, they communicated for a moment, triangulating Gix’s position, and then they were off again, headed in as much of a straight line as possible.

Nathan was in the process of joining Pater outside to organize the remaining troops for a sally into the manufactorum when Gix's message blasted to him. Looking at Pater, he nodded his head with respect. "He was a good man, Pater, and his soul rests with the Emperor now."

Prius lay on the ground, feeling as if he'd been given a thorough power maul massage to every part of his body. He coughed as he inhaled from the pool of blood that had gathered under his face, rolling over away from it. His fingers reached down, fumbling with the catches of his armor... too heavy to bear right now... he pulled the plate free, tossing it over his head.

"Adivan is down as well," Gix added as it he closed. "Melta gun was ineffective." Holy Throne, he was going to die. All life ends in death, he remembered. Not holy catechism, but the sayings of the fisher folk he had been raised by. Maybe Severa could get clear. Maybe she'll have a career with the Black Ships that her refusal to play along with naval corruption cost her.

Prius was blind in one eye, the force of the exorcism having ruptured the blood vessels. He rolled to his knees, blood trailing from his mouth.

"'M the Emperor's sword..." he murmured as he struggled to rise and failed. "'N the Emperor's shield..." he tried again, and failed. "'M the torch that burns... burns brightly..." Finally, he levered himself to his feet.

As he wrenched the remains of his helmet off, Adivan considered his options. That thing had simply ignored his meltagun; that left his firearms pretty clearly useless. The only thing he had with even the faintest chance of harming that thing was the energy blade that was busily burning a hole through the floor next to him, and that was a faint hope.

And, he noted as he tossed the helmet aside, he was down to his skills as a psyker for perception; he felt as though he was hearing things underwater, and his eyes were worse. One of them had a shard of ceramite stuck through it, and the other, while still intact, showed hi little more than a blur. He staggered to his feet, determined that if he should die, it would be in battle against this horror.

The PsyKing raged from his vantage point in the netherworld. Oh Holy Tseentch, do your plans fail because of the stupidity of your Pawns too?

Torquen sneered at Gix, his Daemon blade wreathed in flames.

By some miracle, the energy sword was still in his hand. He stumbled toward Torquen.

"Lighting the way toward salvation for mankind... in His Holy Name..." The blade snapped to life.

Gix lunged with the power sword, its cracking energy clashing off the daemon weapon. Gix feinted and moved to flank, hoping he had an advantage in speed to make up for the huge disparity in brute force. His force rod was ready, to parry an attack or strike at an opening.

He picked up speed, his stance straightening as his untapped power acted to heal his body... not nearly to full form, but enough that adrenaline could carry him toward what he needed to do...

Torquen lazily played with Gix like a cat with a mouse. He didn't notice Prius; His latent psychic ability, along with the PsyKing's assistance let him slip past the jubillant Heretic's radar.

"I will light myself afire with the flame of the Emperor..." he declared, every pounding step sending spasms of pain through his battered body. "Burning brightly to consume his foes!" he yelled at the last moment, leaping forward to strike at Torquen with every last reserve of energy he had, taking no care of his own life, aiming... above and to the right.

Pater had almost killed one of the Medicae, but was eventually able to lead the forces charging through the Hive personally. He reached the CP and rushed to Kruger's side, tears streaming from his good eye. He picked up his Force Staff.

Gix felt the psychic presence of Prius's advance. He struck rapidly, to give the commissar an opening.

Torquen screamed as his weak point was exploited, dropping his psychic shields. Pater yelled! "Fire! All fire! For the Emperor! For Kruger!"

Gix rolled away and leveled his force rod. One last time he drew upon what remained of his strength. A blast of warp fire erupted from his force rod, striking Torquen.

Adivan swayed and spat bloody teeth and bone fragments from his mouth. In the unlikely event that he survived this, he knew he would need serious medical attention, but that was irrelevant now. As he stood there, he reached out, to see with his mind what he could not see with his eyes. What he saw was something he truly had not expected: hope. Only a small sliver of it, true, but it was there. He groped for a weapon, and found his Melta, still hanging off one arm. Without hesitation, he swung the barrel toward Torquen, letting his powers guide his aim, and fired. The melta shot moved almost lazily in his mind's eye, tracing the path he had selected, and impacted against Toquen's head, shoulder, and upper torso.

Prius collapsed to the ground, sword still lodged in Torquen's side. Whatever the outcome, he had nothing left to give... his good eye focused on the fallen one, his scattered thoughts praying for his demise.
