I wonder why everyone thinks the missile defence shield is the same thing as Reagan's Star Wars (which was to involve laser-armed killer satellites). This misconception is probably why Jack Leyton is so insistant on decrying it as "putting weapons in space"

It's a PLANET POPPER! Run or the hills and save yourself, even if such a nuke would likely vaporise the whole of the Himalayas without trouble.

Even Paul Martin responded to Bush bringing it up, as "we fundementally oppose putting weapons in space." Have our politicians even bothered to read the proposals? The least they could do is ask what the NORAD 2IC knows about it, he's always a Canadian.

How does a 5 megaton warhead level Alaska? A 5 megaton warhead may destroy the core of a major city, but it will leave structures in the suburbs standing (albeit irradiated and suffering from fallout).
In Brazil they say that Pele was the best, but Garrincha was better

He was being sarcastic, though you will encounter morons who think that's true. They also tend to think that all nuclear warheads are in the 25 megaton range or bigger.

Hmm looks like Kirkland Lake/Quebec border region got plasted there

Cute cartoon though
"Of course, what would really happen is that in Game 7, with the Red Sox winning 20-0 in the 9th inning, with two outs and two strikes on the last Cubs batter, a previously unseen meteor would strike the earth, instantly and forever wiping out all life on the planet, and forever denying the Red Sox a World Series victory..."
