You could learn something from someone who actually understands science. Hey, he even mentions Star Wars. Try not to get too upset... This person happens to know what he's talking about, and he's got some class about the way he explains himself - you might want to take notes.

While you're at it, you may note that his nitpicks of Star Wars are mostly related to cinematic issues common to all sci-fi series, while my criticisms of Star Trek concern massive, glaring obscenities committed against science. And by the way, if you're going to slyly accuse me of not knowing anything about science, you need to do better than that. You need to provide something like ... oh, say, an actual rational argument.

Why these people bother contacting you just to insult your intellegence and your taste in hobbies is beyond me. My take of this particular person is that he thinks that he is better then you and that his insults are his way of trying to reaffirm his superiority. I wouldn;t let it bother you if I were you (if it is bothering you that is).

What I thought was interesting was that the Bad Astronomy site owner said he could complain about how Star Trek has bad astronomy just as much as the other shows and movies, but he's reluctant to because of the fan backlash. I get about three of these a week. "You do KNOW that Star Wars isn't real, right?" The trouble is, these guys read my hatemail page and try to outdo those already on there; either by adding more profanity or more surly attitude.

I delete almost all of them. To get on my hatemail page, you really have to WORK to be an INTERESTING asshole...
